    3D Printers

My 11yo would like a 3D printer for Christmas. Iím very tech savvy, but have done very little research on a 3D printer. Is it possible to get a reasonable one for a child that wonít cost more than $500? If so, recommendations? I donít want to get a piece of crap, but I also donít want to spend four figures on something he may quickly decide is boring.

    TIA.

A guy at work has this one for his kid. He likes it. Says its a bit slow and the software that comes with it is mediocre but its solid overall. Reviews on Amazon are not great so YMMV. He bought the $300 one.

Depends on what you're after, but I would look at the Monoprice MP Select Mini 3D Printer V2. If he doesn't enjoy it, it didn't break the bank.
