Bolt on tuned 2018 Porsche 991.2 Turbo S vs. stock McLaren 720S 1/4 mile action

This is the same McLaren 720S you have all watched wreck everything in its path short of an 1100 awhp Nissan GTR. This time it is running on the PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) dragstrip against a bolt on tuned Porsche 991.2 Turbo S.

With the 991.2 generation the 911 Turbo S received larger turbochargers than its standard turbo counterpart. That means there is more to gain tune only.

This 2018 911 Turbo S has a full catless exhaust and a Champion (GIAC) ECU tune. It is said to make 588 horsepower to all four wheels although we are not sure what dyno it was tested on. Either way, it is still roughly 100 wheel horsepower short of the 720S.

What the Turbo S has going for it is all wheel drive. So, despite the roughly 300 pound weight penalty it should pull the 720S out of the hole and then the McLaren will have to run it down by the 1/4 mile marker.

So how does it play out? Well, the 911 gets caught sleeping in the first run. It gets trounced. Its only hope is to get the jump and try to hold the lead.

The Turbo does have the better 60 foot but it's trailing by just over 10 miles per hour of trap speed essentially supporting the difference of ~100 whp exactly:

The best pass for the Turbo S ends up being a 10.285 @ 133.99:

It is going to need upgraded turbos just to be able to run with a stock 720S. Look at the McLaren's best pass:

720s doesn’t have any true stock Vs stock competition at its price point. hypercar for supercar money...3200lbs, mid engine, and v8tt that revs high and delivers 700whp ....game over everyone else.

Turbo s needs a few more bolt ons, some weight reduction and meth, there are 9 sec stock turbo champion tuned cars out there. However upgraded 68mm turbos would be the sure fire way to beat a 720s, that would be a good race to see.

Then the 911 will need 71mm turbos and possibly a built motor to catch it. It’s a never ending story....

tuned 720s will be hard to beat. It’s so strong as is, Jesus.
