    Weistec releases their 2018 on W213 Mercedes-AMG E63 & S M177 V8 ECU flash tune upgrade - 91 octane pump gas dyno results

The AMG M177/M178 4.0 liter V8 is familiar to most Mercedes-AMG enthusiasts as the engine architecture sees duty in the C63 and AMG GT. The new 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S gets an M177 variant as well but with a major difference.

That difference being a new manifold and turbochargers featuring twin scroll turbo technology. The E63 is quite simply much more powerful due to this change than its C63 sibling.

The motor being in a higher state of tune from the factory also means it is more difficult to extract power out of. Yet, Weistec is able to get some very nice gains on their all wheel drive Dynojet on 91 octane pump gas:

You will notice the majority of the increase in the mid-range. At 4500 rpm wheel horsepower is up by 80 and torque is up by 93 lb-ft at the wheels.

Peak horsepower increases from 568 at the wheels to 625. Just with Weistec software alone.

Some will be saying the M157 shows larger gains over stock which is true but when tuned the M177 actually offers more torque and top end horsepower over its larger previous generation AMG engine sibling.

    Weistec's W213 ECU upgrade starts at $2995.00: http://weistec.com/all/e/e-63/2018-p...rade-w213.html

    Key Features:

    • Improved Throttle Response
    • Optimized Fuel, Spark, and Boost
    • 50+ Wheel Horse Power Peak to Peak Gains with Air Filters
    • Up to 75HP gains in the mid range
    • Start Stop Disabled (for Race Vehicles)

It's nice to see they can force off start/stop. That annoyed me on my W212 wagon, but was fixable with a 3rd party module if you wanted.... It doesn't just stay on/off and remember like BMW does it.

Could you clarify if these numbers are RWD or AWD? You say initially that it was done on a AWD dynojet, Weistec themselves don't say its AWD. I only bring this up because the new 4matic+ system on the W213 according to mercedes propaganda makes it rwd only. So if these numbers are AWHP, they are great. If they are RWHP only, less great.

Either way, yet another reason I want a W213. I think I'd even settle for a sedan (but always lust for another wagon). I'd maybe go for a tuned W213 over a tuned RS7, but the RS7 is really impressive, but W213 wins because of RWD option. At least thats how I see it. I think the W213 also finally comes with a heated steering wheel and the heated center console which is pretty baller.

This would be a excellent winter beater with the improved torque curve.

    Where do they say that?

These are about the numbers Terry was getting from a piggyback on the F10 M5..... I am not super impressed seeing as this is from a more capable flash tune but I do thinks its very cool that flash tuning is already available on this car.

I expect to the F90 M5 piggyback to exceed these results but I wonder how long it will take to get flash tuning on the F90...

They don't say anywhere if its rwhp or awhp. they just say whp. The new car can do 4matic or rwd. What mode was the car in when it was dyno'd

Well, this is an introductory flash tune. Who knows if they're able to adjust ignition advance, or what tables they have/do not have to work with. Who knows this flash might just call for a bit more boost, but the ECU has a boost cap currently so until they figure that out, there's more power to be had? I dunno. I agree with your statement that these are pretty much the same numbers the f10 m5 with a jb4 put out, and the m5 looks like it had a broader torque curve so maybe the exhaust housing on the merc is already starting to choke.

I think BMW has a better mod perspective, as it seems most of the time you get better results out of their product, than the equivalent mercedes. Also the m5 you can do turbos on real easy, the w212 before this has turbos on the outside which were impossible to service engine in, especially if you wanted to change the last bit of the down pipe as it came in two pieces, one off the exhaust, then a chunk of pipe with the cats on it, to bring it to the mid pipe.

I hope the mercedes tune gets better as time goes on. I am not sure how much better the f90 m5 will be over the f10.

    Exactly.

    Let me ask for clarification.

It will only be better for drag racing. Frankly, that is what most buyers want. Off the line performance to beat a Tesla.

Thanks a bunch for the clarification. In that case, I'm quite excited by these numbers, Assuming mercedes managed to make RWD mode more efficient than AWD Mode.

This is great! Good job Weistec. More reasons to buy a w213.
