Cadillac is developing a 4.2 liter twin turbocharged and direct injected V8

It looks like the Europeans may finally get some competition in the twin turbo and direct injected V8 market they currently dominate. Cadillac of course has supercharged V8 engines at their disposal courtesy of Chevrolet but a smaller turbo V8 motor is something they are lacking.

To be fair basically all the Domestic brands are lacking turbo V8 muscle. That is about to change with Cadillac's new 4.2 liter twin turbo V8 set to go under the hood of the CT6.

This is good news of course. The only downside here is this V8 is not going to be pushed hard or go in a V-series model. Power is expected to be in the 400's maybe the upper 400's at that. The CTS-V of course will continue with the LT4 6.2 liter direct injected and supercharged V8.

This motor does bode well for the future. Imagine what Cadillac could push this motor to considering how well their 3.6 liter V6 is doing in the ATS-V models? Let's hope it eventually finds its way into lighter and sportier models.
