      It is tough to explain what a beatdown these runs are. The F80 M3 is obviously lighter than the CLS63 AMG by 1000 pounds and the quick shifting DCT is a big advantage. The torque of the M157 5.5 liter V8 should at least keep it in there shortly.


      It doesn't. The M3 just runs away. The F80 M3 has Pure Stage 2 turbos, FBO, and a custom E50 flash tune.

      The CLS63 is making 780 wheel horsepower with Pure Stage 2 M157 turbochargers and meth. Torque is said to be 820 at the wheels. It traps 133 at the track and has a built transmission.

      Damn.

        I've said it before but vids like this make it worth repeating, the M157/MCT AMG combo is never gonna be that fast unless one spends ridiculous amounts of money to go standalone syvecs or something.

        I was so excited in 2014 when AMG came out with awd e63 M157, bought one and soon after was let down with lack of tuning options that worked in the real world (not the dyno only)

        W212 e63s was my last amg (had w211 E55 and W204 C63 s/c as well)... Audi and BMW just seem to be more tuner friendly german luxury platforms

        The newer AMG's seem to be doing just fine.

        The AMG GT will beat down anything from BMW.

        700whp vs 780whp, 80whp difference for 1000lbs, should be about right....not sure what happened but it
        almost looks like the CLS was in the wrong gear due to how badly it got pulled from the honk

        Most are under that 700 whp mark unless pushing the turbos HARD.

        1. 5.5L DOHC Motor
        2. Twin-Turbocharged
        3. Awd

        Yet the modded recipe does not impress against lesser or similarly priced boosted rivals.....

        It's the least impressive motor of its rivals IMO. It makes a ton of torque but so what? So does the M275.

        They are doing more with 1.5L less now.... should not compute but it does....

        MB automatics I have driven in the recent past seem to have shifting and programming problems when pushed. Maybe the new ones do not?
