    • Mercedes-AMG finally gives the W205 C43 M276 the larger turbos from the E43 for the 2019 model year

When Mercedes-AMG launched the W213 generation E43 it received a nice power boost compared to other models powered by the M276 DELA 30 twin turbo 3.0 liter V6. The E43 got larger turbos which increased output to 396 horsepower.

Well, Mercedes updated the W205 C43 AMG with these larger turbochargers and output is now rated at 385 horsepower. The lower rating compared to the E43 is likely ceremonial to maintain the artificial model hierarchy based on price.

Whatever, the point is the C43 is now an even greater tuning bargain. AMR Performance was getting 427 wheel horsepower out of the old motor. The new one should offer quite a bit more tuning headroom thanks to the new turbos.

There are other changes like the new round exhaust tips which mirror 53 AMG models and modified front and rear light designs.

The minor cosmetic details are nice but what BenzBoost wants to see is what these new turbos can do.

Pretty incredible value if this will take it close to 500 WHP with bolt ons. But I may be a bit too optimistic.

This is going to be insane. The value will make you question whether you even need an E63 when you can get one of these with AWD for 1/2 the price, and with AMR already making ~510 lb-ft to the wheels on the smaller turbos, I can't see that number going down... Deep 11s realistic?

I think so. 11.3 @ 118 or something like that.

I finally recieved my E43 today.
Been contacting a few European tuners lately , and guess what , they all claim the turbo's across the E43 platforms are all the same.
As much as i want to believe otherwise , i guess what they are saying is true.
AMR been tuning these engines for some time now , let them show a graph where the E43 engine shows some significant gains over the C43 engine with that same rev3.1 software.
When you ask those guys some info about their tune , they don't release much info but are quick to inform you about their latest promotion.

Comparing base line dyno's from their site , they got the C43 at 305hp and the E43 at 318hp. I'm pretty sure all those turbo's are the same with just a different tune.

Part numbers between E43 and C43 turbo's seem to be the same , maybe stil different internals but why same part numbers then?
Why develop / produce different turbo's for a 33hp (stock crank hp ) gain ? Just ad 2 / 3 psi and voila.

We really need Terry to develop the JB1 for the C43 into a full blown JB4 , this would drive the platform alot more and give us logging capability to see what's going on with these engines.

Just had a blast driving this car tonight. Power is way down compared to my pure stage 2 335i but this car is on a whole different level , and it sounds damn good ( with the windows down lol ) It just needs a 100whp more , that would transform it into a seriously powerfull sedan.

So far i have not found a European tuner capable or willing to replicate what AMR seems to be doing . GAD seems to have a "500hp" tune for the 43 engines , still waiting on some info form them to see what it truly is at the wheels.

        Why would Mercedes-AMG lie?

Check how they mention " handcrafted engine " Click here to enlarge

Somebody show me some pictures of both turbo's and point out the differences .

Mercedes states the turbos are larger right here. That MBUSA post is for the previous C43: https://media.mbusa.com/releases/rel...-amg-c43-sedan

Installed close to the engine, the two turbochargers are especially spontaneous in their response. The AMG power unit can be identified by the engine cover with red aluminum insert and AMG lettering.

I know its from the older model , it was to show how much misinformation they spread even on their own webpage. There is no such thing as a "handcrafted" 43 engine.

Anyway , i did not see that official statement from Mercedes yet , did they officially announce bigger turbo's on the E43 too?

In Germany there is TTH turbo who has a hybrid upgrade for the C43 / E43 , when i asked them about a possible difference between both turbo's they never replied me back.

E43 and C43 (2017) part numbers for the turbochargers , wich are all the same.

Maybe Pure or Vargas can shed some more info on this , but i'm afraid this platform will never appeal to the hybrid manufacturers .

        They did, yes: https://www.benzboost.com/content.ph...7-W213-E43-AMG

Why would they lie on both of these? Doesn't make sense.

The part number aspect is confusing but I immediately thought they upgrade the turbos to the E43 units when I saw this and that is what the press release essentially confirms.

I agree with you that they would not and should not lie about vital information like that.

Anyway , just found a thread on MBworld forum where they mention Eurocharged having a turbo upgrade for the E43.

Are they a vendor / sponsor here? I will contact them to see if i can get some information on that possible upgrade.

Had a short e-mail conversation with Jerry from Eurocharged.
Apparently they recently upgraded a set of C43 and also a set of E43 turbo's.
He is going to share all the information soon.

Well then can he confirm once and for all that they are in fact different turbos? Maybe even give IHI part numbers

I hope they share all the details.

In the MBworld thread they mentioned it making 72whp over tuned E43whp , so i'm hoping somewhere between 450 and 500whp.

I wonder how the fuel system is doing at these power levels , and what about intake or intercooler?
I have seen a C450 dyno , Eurocharged tuned with a 50 shot making around 450whp , so i guess the stock fuel system and intercooler are still sufficient at those power levels.
