    • The AMG GT S is fast, Weistec baseline 2015 C190 AMG GT S M178 1/4 mile testing results - 11.4 @ 126

Most tuners provide a dynograph as a baseline. Weistec took a bit of a different and more real world performance testing approach. They posted a teaser of their AMG GT S yesterday stating they were doing baseline testing. Their baseline testing took place on the drag strip. As enthusiasts we definitely respect this approach.

So how did the car do? It impressed to say the least. Using launch control on the stock street tires the rear wheel drive AMG GT S hit a 1.885 60 foot. A good launch considering the street rubber but on drag rubber there is room for improvement.

Even with the completely stock setup on pump gas the car went 11.419 @ 126.03. That is simply impressive. This is going to be an easy 10 second car with a tune and drag rubber. Keep in mind the density altitude was 2087 feet at the time of the run. What would it do in better conditions? Well, it certainly would be knocking on the 10 second door.

As it stands the AMG GT S is roughly on par with a 911 Turbo in acceleration although the Turbo has the all wheel drive traction advantage on street rubber. This is going to be a hell a tuner platform from AMG.

Thank you to Weistec for the video and getting the AMG GT S on the strip so quickly.

        You only need $130k....

        Less for the standard GT.

This thing is the best German car since the 911 Turbo.

Just looked. So list is 149K I live in AB so I'd be roughly 156.5 out the door. That is better than I thought. A 991 Turbo S was 200K last I looked.

Very good times. The funny thing is that in my town these cars are going to be bought 99% by women who will drive them to Starbucks and yoga class.

They aren't going to be late for that Yoga class though.

Just went to dinner and one of these was in the parking lot, exact same spec as in that video. Words can't describe how gorgeous this thing is in person. As good as it looks in photos...it's 100x better in real life. They nailed it, everyone else in this price bracket has had it. Given the luxury and the usability as well as the raw speed and looks...it's hard to do better. Really starting to want one badly.

Wow that's impressive the GT-S is a hell of an all around car looks, interior luxury, handling, speed and sound what a package. The 126mph trap speed in +2000 DA is great this car will rip with simple bolt ons, race gas tune, and cooler weather. I think the car looks so much better with the edition 1 front lip and rear spoiler completes the look especially the rear.

It does look better in person but I don't think it's a stunning design. I think they played it very safe.
