    • GAD Motors G63 AMG M177 4.0 Stage 1 tune and stock overlay - 771 horsepower

Mercedes-AMG improved the performance of the G-Wagon considerably when they placed the M177 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 under the hood. Why? Not only is it lighter than the twin turbo V12 they mated the 577 horsepower V8 it to a 9-speed automatic.

While the transmission upgrade gets a lot of credit it is interesting to note the factory AMG tuning is aggressive. GAD Motors is not picking up a ton of torque down low but mostly top end power.

Their peak gain comes at 6300 rpm and they do not show any increase in torque over stock until past 3500 rpm with a gradual increase to redline:

AMG seems to tune the M177 G63 very aggressively out of the box. It is nice to see such a top end gain for a G63 though as typically twin turbo AMG motors in the G Wagon are stump pullers.

GAD picked up a big chunk of power up top and this curve is beautiful.

      Stock - 645 hp
      Stage 1 - ECU, CPC, Airfilter - 771 hp

With the GAD CPC this thing is really gonna put those 771 down on the road!

Great results! GAD leading the way in AMG world right now.

Are they the only ones offering CPC software/tuning right now? I see it included in their tunes (5663 euros for stage 1, holy $#@!!) but nothing about an a la carte offering.

@5soko doesn't Renntech also offer CPC tuning?

GAD is the only big company around that i know of right now to offer it. I know a very smart fella out in Germany that is doing them aswell. Not an easy task to crack and make work, that is why it is very limited and exactly what benz had in mind when they moved things from the ecu to the tcu to the cpc, to make it harder.

No, not at this time that i know of. And they will prob never offer it for the W213 unless demanded.
The TCU tune for the W212 E63 4matic was and still is $2,500, between the price and lack of knowledge from the AMG owners on this subject, it never seemed like it ever took off and became popular.
But I think nowadays, via datalogging and trying to spread facts and stats, the community is understanding the importance of this for real world road performance far better, little by little.
