    • Mercedes-AMG W213 E63 S Wagon vs. Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S E-Hybrid drag and rolling races

Why is this Carwow video being featured? Because while Panamera vs. E63 is done to death you rarely see the E63 wagon go at it with the Panamera Sport Turismo. The main difference in the powertrains here is that the Panamera is a hybrid with a PDK dual clutch transmission.

The E63 S wagon is actually lighter by a bit as the Panamera Sport Turismo E-Hybrid comes in at 5126 pounds. It is absurdly heavy.

Not that the E63 S Wagon is light but 4669 pounds undercuts the hybrid Porsche by quite a bit. You simply can not get around the significant weight an electric drivetrain adds. The benefit of course is instant torque to offset that weight gain.

Two twin turbo 4.0 liter V8's but the Porsche is making 680 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque. The E63 S has 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.

From a stop the Panamera edges the E63 but it is close. Close enough that the hybrid drivetrain does not justify the weight gain from a strictly performance sense.

      1/4 mile:

      Panamera: 11.1
      E63 S: 11.3

The rolling race again is stupidly done as the cars are not in the correct gear. Rather than use the Panamera's strength of instant torque by being ready to race they wait for the transmissions to downshift. Infuriating and stupid.

The E63 S pulls and the Panamera can not run it down.

They do it over again with the Panamera now locked in third gear (it should be in second at that speed) and it does much better but it again loses to the AMG wagon.

If only these people knew what trap speeds are.
