    • NO! Mercedes-AMG going to hybrid four-cylinder powerplant for next gen 2021 W206 C63 AMG

Don't do this AMG. Displacement is why we love you. Yes, we understand hybrids are inevitable but that does not mean the V8 has to be deleted as a result. Frankly, the most exciting thing the AMG C-Class brings to its competitors is a big V8.

The C63 is the only car in the luxury sport sedan class that offers a V8 today. That makes it special. Going to a hybrid assisted four-cylinder is something we expect from the entry level CLA-Class.

Apparently the M139 from the CLA45 AMG will be borrowed and paired to an electric powerplant for a total of 500 horsepower.

Maybe Autocar got this report wrong? Or perhaps this is the beginning of the end of the AMG V8 and what a sad development that would be.

wow, i would have thought they would step it down to hybrid assisted V6 Turbo first before going to 4cyl.

Then again, you have yourself to blame you know, you are always touting how Mercedes makes the highest horsepower 4cyl.

Well it is impressive they have the highest horsepower four-cylinder.

No reason they can't have the highest horsepower 4,6,8, or 12...

I can't imagine they would sell a lot of them in an i4 configuration. Half the reason you buy an AMG is the V8, the other half is the massive power/torque.
