    • Sport Auto C190 AMG GT R Pro Nurburgring hot lap - 7:06.6

You might be saying, didn't the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro lap the Nurburgring in 7:04.6? Yes, it did, in the hands of Mercedes-AMG test drivers. Suffice it to say, Mercedes-AMG has greater resources at its disposal at the Nurburgring than Sport Auto.

That is what makes this independent test being only two seconds off the absolute best the factory could do with the car so amazing.

It is not easy to get a time like this. The lap test video below is well worth watching not only for the engine sound but just seeing the incredible speed and driving involved.

Laptime: 7.06,60 min. | Tyre: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP |

The guy driving for sport auto (Christian Gebhardt) is seriously fast and not what you would call an amateur driver at all. He also participates regularly in races, for example the 24h Nürburgring race. Which is why his times are often not far off the professional factory drivers. Respect to him, obviously, but not necessarily what a real amateur (like me!) would be able to do with this car.

To be fair, I didn't call him amateur. I said this was an independent test.

Sure, I just wanted to point this out because that's what the magazine usually says.
