      These are two very potent performance SUV's. Part of their appeal is that they blend big power with relatively light weight. SUV's are very bloated for the most part but the beauty of the Stelvio and GLC is power to weight ratio.

      With the GLC63 AMG you also get a twin turbo M177 4.0 liter V8 meaning going down in chassis size does not mean you have to also give up boosted V8 power.

      The Stelvio Quadrifoglio of course shares its F154 2.9 twin turbo V6 with the Giulia Quadrifoglio but it is down over a liter compared to the GLC63 AMG despite being rated at similar horsepower. It does have a roughly 200 pound curb weight advantage depending on trim.

      So which one is the faster car? It is very, very close but the GLC63 S AMG wins the first run. The Stelvio does seem to pull a little bit while at speed. The second run offers a better start for the Stelvio and it does edge the GLC63 S. The final and third run is similar with the Stelvio winning.

      The GLC63 S really should be brake torqued for a better launch and just mashing the pedal did not allow it to build boost at the line. Not the best launch for either SUV but they are very close with a slight edge up top to the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
