    • Race Chip piggyback tune before/after Mercedes G550 (G500) M176 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 dyno and acceleration results

The Mercedes G550 (known as the G500 ROW) utilizes the 4.0 liter M176 variant. This is essentially the M177 AMG twin turbo V8 powerplant in a lower state of tune. That means it has quite a bit of potential to unlock and makes for somewhat of a bargain in the Mercedes-Benz lineup.

Well, as much of a bargain as a $125k G550 can be. Still, the G63 AMG starts at $143k so tuning the G550 to meet or exceed G63 performance makes sense.

      The G550 gives you a 9-speed 9G-Tronic transmission along with 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque.

The Race Chip MAHA baseline shows the G550 is a bit underrated making just over 450 horsepower:

They pick up some monster gains:

Picking up over 100 horses at all four wheels is huge and shows the potential of the M176.

How does this translate to the real world? The 100-200 kph sprint improves by 4.5 seconds:

A night and day difference but if serious about performance, why not a custom dyno tune?
