You should remember the Volkswagen I.D. R. Almost two years ago it set a new Pikes Peak hillclimb record and it turned an incredible 6:05.336 laptime on the Nurburgring setting a new all electric Nurburgring lap record. How does a McLaren 720S stack up to it? Well for one, the McLaren 720S may be the benchmark for street cars right now and silly fast but the I.D. R is a race car. It isn't even close. No performance data included which shouldn't surprise anyone but it would be nice to see a roll race for even greater perspective. It is only a matter of time before internal combustion engines are put out to pasture in performance cars.

Just how big of a difference does the TVS2650 supercharger conversion from Kong Performance make on a C6 Corvette ZR1 LS9? Well, how about an easy 300+ rwhp and hitting over 1000 rear wheel horsepower on the factory engine internals? We are talking a massive increase over the factory 2.3 liter blower with plenty more left in it: The LSA and LS9 certainly look like some great performance bargains today with this blower.

No that is not a 992 GT3 you are looking at but a 922 Carrera or Carrera Sport Design aero kit. This is option VM2 and it adds a wing to the car among other pieces making for a far more aggressive look over the base design. Includes: SportDesign front fascia SportDesign rear fascia Fixed rear wing and spoiler Third brake light integrated into rear spoiler Additional points: Emphasizes the powerful appearance and uncompromisingly sportive look Optimized in the wind tunnel to ensure perfect aerodynamics Components are specifically engineered for the design and aerodynamics of the 911 Coupe models Even more driving performance by reduction of lift on the front and rear axle The engineers at Weissach have managed to create downforce even when the sunroof is in the open position, the first time this has been done at Porsche Also consider the option SportDesign Side Skirts to compliment the overall design Front axle lift is also recommended due to a reduction of approach/departure angle and ground clearance as with SportDesign Package Pictures shown include EU spec bumper, US bumper will include additional bumperettes as already seen with SportDesign Package Tequipment offering is planned by Summer 2020 Yay or nay?

Here is yet another monthly vehicle subscription program but from Mercedes-Benz which certainly piques some interest. If you were to tell BenzBoost you could sample every AMG model for a month that might be a fun way to try out the performance range. Each plan includes... -Substantial liability insurance policy. -Service, maintenance, and roadside assistance should you need it -Personal concierge will flip you from one vehicle to another -Vehicles are delivered cleaned and fully fueled -Contract terms and price vary by location and tier. See the App for details. One time $495 activation fee required. $1,000,000 liability coverage (combined single limit), $2,000 medical payments to offset any out-of-pocket or deductible costs, $1,000 member deductible. *Additional TAVT recovery fees apply: Signature - $50/month Reserve - $75/month Premier - $100/month AMG Exclusive - $100/month *The delivery date of your first vehicle is subject to the availability of vehicles within the Tier chosen. Waiting times may vary depending on availability. To sample AMG's you will need the top tier plan at $3600+ per month. It does include most AMG's but you will not get an AMG GT R. They draw the line at the AMG GT C which is fine. Paying $3600 to sample the AMG lineup makes sense to someone like BenzBoost for a month to test the range as how else would you accomplish the feat for less money? For most normal people, that is a ton of money monthly which is much more than AMG car payments. Additionally, only Nashville, TN and Atlanta, GA dealers are participating for now. We will see where this goes or if subscriptions are just a fad.

This video is being featured simply because the new C8 Audi RS6 is in it. This is the new kid on the block in the super wagon class. Where is the BMW entry you might ask? Well, the F90 M5 does not come in a touring or wagon configuration so here we are. The M5 by virtue of being a sedan has the weight advantage in this race. You already know the cars are all similar with twin turbo top mount turbo V8 power plants and all wheel drive. Only the Porsche stands out with a dual clutch gearbox and hybrid drivetrain which is why the standard Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo might make more sense especially considering it is cheaper and lighter. What happens in the drag race? The M5 wins. It also jumps. 1/4 mile: M5 Competition: 11.1 Turbo S: 11.2 Mercedes E63 S: 11.3 RS6: 11.3 All fairly close. Plus, you don't want to keep these twin turbo V8's stock anyway. Each one has a potent motor just begging to be unleashed. They race again and the Mercedes-Benz E63 S does even better but the Audi is still the slowest of the group. Carwow makes a mess of the roll race by not being in gear yet again. The M5 wins the roll race followed by the E63. Unfortunately, the Audi trails again but we will have to wait until someone knows what they are doing does a roll race to see how it truly does. Overall, Audi did not make the C8 a monster and it seems to be a minor performance upgrade on the C7 if at all.

Ran 10.3@142 full street trim no weight reduction car was heat soaked, was on the 5th pass trying to get tyre pressure right for launch so was hot lapping it. Got booted off the track for trapping over 140mph 9s coming soon once the weather cools down and I set the car up for the track. **something to note. My half track mph is down some 4mph compared to those who have run 141-142mph. If I pick up in the 1st half who knows what I’ll trap and my et will be.

In other news, race cars are fast. Seriously though, race cars will leave ICE in the dust. That VW is amazing. I'll never but one though.

Top gear just put out a video of a 720s running against the VW IDR electric racer that had run 6:05 on the Nurburgring and shattered the Pikes Peak all time record. https://www.motor1.com/news/400206/vw-id-r-race-mclaren-720s/
