Latest M156/63 AMG Carbon Fiber Airbox from Renntech

Renntech has released an updated airbox for the M156 63 AMG V8 motors. Renntech claims they optimize the air flow as well as increasing the volume of the airbox. This adds approximately 10 hp (no dyno) and looks good while doing it. The airbox comes with filters as well as MAF sensor clips and retails for $2795.

How is this different from their original 63 airbox?

Their airboxes have gone through 6+ revisions at this point. I believe most of the earlier corrections were made with regard to placement of the MAF sensors as there were some tuning issues in the beginning. Later revisions were due to QC. However it definitely looks like all the issues have been straightened out and the airboxes have proven themselves to work objectively at the track (credit to Petro/Mike). I would recommend them to anyone with our products, as we won't be making airboxes for the M156, and these are proven to work.

    Thanks!

Wow that price makes the complaints about the Dinan stuff seem unnecessary.

I don't know about that. Renntech and Dinan both price themselves excessively high in my opinion.

And they will continue to do so as long as people pay it. They need more competition

Well, Dinan in the N54 market can't compete due to all the piggy's offering more power for less and their stroker motors have fallen in price substantially. What helps Dinan is their warranty and old guys owning BMW's who buy into the Dinan name.

With Renntech it is a bit different as they don't face as much competition.

    +1

RENNtech is always revising their products and this one is no different. They have revised their airbox for the 55k a few times in the past, and so I expected they would be revising this one a few times as well. And as is the case with most RENNtech products, this airbox is not just a cosmetic piece, it does provide power.
