    B5 S4 or Mercedes W215 CL600?

I'm going to pick up another car I think. Not sure, but just brainstorming right now.

Would not hurt to have another car to promote BenzBoost or AudiBoost with especially while mine is getting done.

    I can get a B5 S4 in nice shape for $15k or so. A 2003 CL600 will run about $21k.

Both are fast but the CL600 is more of a boat while the S4 is more of a sports car. The twin turbo V12 can run low 11's with just a tune, one running 10's with just a tune + exhaust.

    What do you guys think?

Just make sure you know what you're getting into with the s4. they're starting to show there age, but have a really strong drivetrain. Don't forget the fact that you can have some serious fun when making u turns. There is somehing about going down the road sidways with all four tires spining. If you don't mind working on it yourself, the front suspension wears out somewhat quickly, but parts are now cheap. Also the turbos can die on those cars, and you have to pull the engine to get to them. The Mercedes would probably be a more comfortable car, but it would be a bit less comfortable at the gas pump. If it were me, I'd probably go for the S4. I'm a bit biased since I've owned a few B5 Audis in the past, but the quattro is fun, and they have a huge aftermarket. The Mercedes is one hell of a sleeper though. I saw some guy run 11.20's with a huge s600 here in Richmond. It seemed effortless for him. Either way, both cars are probably fun just for the fact that'll be different. Just let us know what you end up with!

If it is a B5 S4 I would likely get an already modified example, this one was suggested to me: http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/...6spdetc&cat=67

i dunno i would get a cl600 with sport package...that car is one of the few cars ive been in that makes u feel like the king of the world...the b5 s4 has been here done that...i think the cl600 would be much more of an unique project and def be the best bet in terms of a daily driver

    good luck !

B5 you would not need to worry about the turbos death because the car your looking at has the OEM RS4 upgraded turbos

The S4 is significantly cheaper which is nice but they have been done to death.

Nobody has really done the V12 to its full potential. I would choose the CL600 but I already have enough spent on the M3...

Everyone has modded that motor though. I like the E55 a lot, I just would prefer the V12 with boost and the CL is rare.

I don't want to keep pushing the budget up. Just want something cheap and fun.

Yeah I was just going by your $21k price for the CL600.

You can definitely pick up a W215 CL600 for a lot less than $21k.

Sticky....dude, are you 60? LMAO ;-) A CL600 to me seems too much like an old fart's car. Its basically a S class trying really hard to be a coupe...they are kinda cool but not my thing at least. If I was an old retiree, maybe.

That black B5 S4 is in CT, I live there and could get some good info on it as I'm good friends with EPL's owner and that whole crew. If you want and are seriously considering the car or a car here in the CT/NY area let me know as I'm sure we could get someone to take a look at it for you, may some pics too. I'll be back in the US after the 3rd, just let me know.

I think you'll have more fun in the B5S4 too...I think the CL would get boring after a short time. The S4 could be an all weather screamer. The one you're looking at already has a lot of very solid (daily driver) upgrades. And that 404whp on pump number is likely on EPL's conservative Mustang dyno...I had a custom EPL tune too, its the way to go on any car running Bosch Motronic. I'm thinking of an EPL tune on our 997.2 Turbo S when it comes in this spring...wouldn't go with anyone else.

Are you thinking of Building the car, or sticking to stock internals? Are you West Coast?

22k to 25k range. You can probably pick one up for a few thousand less than asking price too, in this economy.

rs6 was the 4.2 twin turbo v8 with 450hp and 415lbs through a 5 sp trip tranny. All wheel drive easy to mod and Audi only brought 860 over to the states!
    MotorTrend qoute...
Though docile when driven moderately, this Maximum-Strength Audi is a serious performer when prodded. Strange as this may sound, its acceleration feels supple yet brutal at the same time. The Tip trans works great, too, responding quickly to paddle commands with no slop between shifts. Some might think the steering too heavy, but it's very direct, with great feel. The brakes require more-than-expected pedal effort, though serve up tons of stopping power with minimal dive. Ride quality is well polished for such a bahnfire, with excellent high-speed stability. Impressive

    One running an 09 V....
