I think a world record should be sanctioned by a governing body. Something done at NASA airstrip with Guinness World Record officials on hand as an example:

Sick video but I would hardly call that a "street car".

Well, may be because we do not rely on the results shown in artificial conditions which can never be proved in the street ;-). Anyway in next event in Minsk i will ask for printout of a timeslip.

Why can't they be proved in the street? A drag strip eliminates more variables than street comparisons.

I appreciate and there certainly is validity to the data I'm just pointing out quarter mile records, at least on this network, will always be required to be made on NHRA sanctioned drag strips for the purpose of having a set standard.

To get around this in areas where this is not available I'm going to provide my own set acceleration standards shortly.

I meant that if you show 10.8 on glue it can never be the same on the ordinary tarmac we have.

Absolutely but that's the difference between setting your car up for the track and the street or highway.

Then go to the drag strip. Point is, the only way to keep the playing filed even is to require records to be set at a drag strip where timing and scoring is always the same. Sure the conditions change, but the way the run is recorded never does.

Well, it's pretty much the term "street car" or phrase definition line has been blurred by so many. Example use NOS, Meth injection, sacrificing emission/safety equipment, stand alone ECU with no SAE OBD readyness, etc. on emission controlled vehicles. You could pretty much grab a world record GTR after the pass, & if an emission EPA/DOT official would test it on the spot for emission & road worthy...it would certainly fail! But, I am not here to judge.

    Here's another SICK "street car":

Well, for us in Europe the results below of RENNtech, Gorilla, Evotech and so far are for sure more official than e.g. a single mobile phone picture of the racelogic box screen from someone doing 100-200 kph in under 6s with a 700hp tune only E63 or some other bull$#@! of that kind (possibly 50% downhill... I just saw that BS on some German forum)Click here to enlarge

    Here's another SICK "street car":
It's been blurred by those people who want a purpose built race car while calling it a "Street" car so they don't have to compete with real race cars. Like the jackass above rolling down the highway. So if I weld a trailer hitch on the back of an F1 car and pull a trailer down the highway, I guess my F1 car is a street car, too ?
If it can't be parallel parked, it's not a street car.
