heheh then just get the 18-200mm they are like 600.... get the VR II not the VR I

thats why you get a d90.... they are good in low light ;p
35mm or 55mm are good too but you cant zoom.... so you have to walk around but they are goood at night shot too

Great, now I have to start reading about cameras and probably join some photography forum just to figure out how to use this damn d7000 with what lenses in what conditions. I want a camera, not a homework assignment.

If you haven't bought a camera yet.

Calumet Photo is selling the D90 body for $679. $100 instant savings, plus a $50 off code "HOLIDAYSALE".

Most likely won't find a better deal out there.

    Sure.

The reason I want the D7000 is it is brand new, supports a newer memory format, and has dual memory card slots. I can record video to one and pictures to the other. That is badass, don't know of another camera in that price range offering that.

Nikon vs Canon is like Procede vs JB. Both sides will go on for days arguing.

I think when purchasing in the entry level price range the Nikon cameras just feel a lot more quality. The Canon Rebel bodies just feel cheap.

I am sure your friend has top of line equipment, Canon makes some very nice professional use cameras.

Well scratch that! Found ONE D7000 locally last night.
Had a friend that works at best buy pick it up for me with his employee discount.

Very happy with it so far. Using the kit lens for a while til I grow out of it. Have a LOT to learn still.
But it's nice to know anyone can throw it on auto and use it pretty much like a point and shoot when the need arises.

First impressions: The thing screams quality and has a nice weight to it; feels very solid and well built.
