2016 Mercedes-Benz MLC63 AMG on the way with twin turbo V8 power and 550 horsepower - Spyphotos

We know the MLC-Cass is on the way and Mercedes already previewed the design. The MLC will be to the M-Class what the BMW X6 is to the X5. An AMG variant makes logical sense considering that the drivetrain of the M-Class will be shared and you can see the proof of the AMG variant in the pictures below. We pretty much know exactly what this will be with all wheel drive, an automatic transmission, and an M157 twin turbo V8 under the hood in a ~550 horsepower state of tune.

The wheels, suspension, and bodywork of course get the AMG treatment. Expect a debut next year in Geneva and for the MLC63 AMG (unless they change the name to M-coupe, you never know with Mercedes these days) to go on sale as a 2016 model.

The current X6 will be beat. We will have to see if it gets a DCT as that can certainly change things.

the new X6M will for sure be faster, and probably lighter, that already has this beat if it puts out 550hp. the DCT would just put it over the top

From what I see from the new X5 it really isn't lighter. DCT is the wildcard.

Yeah it's like they looked at the all the great designs they've done in the last 2 years...and threw all those ideas away. I don't get it.

It certainly might or they may charge extra for a performance package. Both are underrated btw.

I think this looks good, it's got a beefy stance to it. My only concern after seeing those pictures, is how the driver is sitting in the car, it makes it look a little cramped inside; but he could just have an awkward driving position.

You also never know with Merc, they could bring out an MLC65.

Doubt it and there's no need really. The M157 is the better motor IMO.
