2015 W205 C-Class convertible spotted testing and coming with a soft top - C63 AMG convertible a possibility?
Do not let the hardtop in the pictures fool you. Just like the E-Class coupe convertible the upcoming W205 generation C-Class drop top will feature a fabric roof. This is not a bad thing as it should keep weight down considerably. If the vehicle had a hard top and 4Matic all wheel drive as the vehicle is expected to come standard with the curb weight would balloon significantly. Expect the initial models to mirror the W205 sedan with C300 and C400 models.
This model brings with it an exciting possibility. What about for the first time ever a C63 AMG convertible? Mercedes-Benz did a C63 AMG coupe but never a drop top. The possibility exists here with no E63 AMG droptop or coupe in the lineup. It would certainly make up for the current E coupe never getting the AMG treatment which Mercedes-Benz admitted on record was a mistake.
We will have to wait and see what happens but the C-Coupe is on the way. There have been rumors about the CLK name returning but so far nothing of substance from Mercedes-Benz supporting this rumor has surfaced.

Honestly I hope the CLK name never comes back. They need to figure out their 2 door lineup badly.
You guys can rip on BMW all you want but their lineup is logical, easy to follow, doesn't have any strange gaps, and there's not a ton of overlap.
The CLK was always a bastard hybrid of the C Class and the E Class...which meant it had all the downsides of both and none of the positives. Pretty but not much good for anything else. Didn't compete well with anything. I think they need to stop screwing around and develop a proper E Coupe to compete with the 6 and a proper C coupe to compete with the 4. Hopefully this is what they are doing.
