Powerhaus Performance built custom twin turbo C219 CLS55 AMG with Eurocharged tuned M113 V8 goes 10.9 @ 128 in the 1/4 mile

Good to finally see some dragstrip results from turbocharged M113 5.5 liter V8 motors. The C219 CLS55 AMG originally comes from with a supercharged 5.5 liter V8 (M113K) from the factory. Powerhaus Performance ditched the factory 2.1 liter blower that is quickly pushed out of its efficiency range for a pair of turbochargers. They then sought out Eurocharged Performance to tune the turbo setup due to their proficiency with the M113K V8 engine as well as their experience tuning turbos on the motors.

The end result is a 4300 pound CLS55 that runs 10's on 93 octane pump gas as the 10.9 @ 127.9 slip shows. Definitely impressive for pump fuel but people will now compare these results to what M113K's have shown with larger blowers namely the recent run of 10.3 @ 134 run for a supercharged car. It is important to note that was done in a much lighter CLK body so not exactly apples to apples and that this is a stock internal motor M113 V8.

BenzBoost looks forward to seeing what this CLS can do on race gas with the boost turned up on the twin GTX 3076's if they intend to push it. For now, this is a great start for turbocharged M113 V8 performance especially considering the stock internals and 93 octane fuel.

Good results. I want to see race gas. I would also like to see what a built motor with twin could do.

    This is a nice start.

The Exige S already has a supercharged V6 option so more than enough grunt for that little car. A V8 just would make it way too heavy and would be an absurdly tight fit if it fit but I get your point.

I might not be reading the graph correctly, but is that an AFR of 8 at full throttle?. Isnt that too rich?

Very cool. Looks nice and clean as well. Any concerns with the turbos mounted so low? Can't wait to see what it can do with more boost/race gas.

Thanks. The turbos are not the lowest point of the car so no worries really.

I tried my best to purchase this car, but NJ dealerships are scam artists. My belief is that this car will eventually be scrapped because it does not have an intake system (K&N filters) on the turbos. Already accepted the fact that the turbos are probably shot and may need new rings/valves as well. Such a shame.

I don't get it, what happened? So they built this only to scrap it?

Everything went quiet about this car but weren't they supposed to crank up the boost and push it further?

Powerhaus would only tell me that they had not serviced the car in over a year. They told me that they could not build an intake for this car (it has not been running air filters).

Nine hours after I received a message from Burlington Chevy, I agreed to their list price....and 48 hours later no response.

Burlington Chevy claims the car has been sold on eBay (I never saw it) and the car is now for sale at 2040-cars dot com (who I previously contacted asking about the car's history) for $15k more that Burlington's asking price.

I highly doubt we will see that car again.

    I don't understand why not. That's a big problem.

    Something is fishy here.

This project just did not work out I guess.

    Thanks for the follow up.

We broke the record for the ClS platform and sold it nearly two years ago shortly after that. We then went to the e92 m3 platform and have the record for that as well. Intakes could be made with a smaller compressor housing inlet.

The eBay deal fell through because the car didn't have catalytic converters (seriously?). I'm doing my best to close the deal or this beauty will eventually end up in the scrap yard.

I assume Powerhaus did all the custom welding but they did not seem to have any interest in creating an intake. Not sure if I can find (or have K&N make) filter to fit directly on the turbos with so little space. If the work can't be done on the east coast then the project will continue in California. Any original designs and info would be greatly appreciated.

Heres the rest of the exhaust being welded up. It'll meet the stock resonators near the back of the car. I'll be running the stock mufflersfor now until I see the need to chop them off. "
