Nice video, but I would never do that to an e30 M3. A regular e30 yes, not an m3. That probably just dropped the value of that car to 10k instead of 30k.

    An exercise in power to weight - S85 V10 swapped BMW E30 M3 vs. a tuned Audi C6 RS6 V10 twin turbo

The C6 generation Audi RS6 that unfortunately was not brought over to the United States is a beast. 5.2 liter V10, twin turbo engine, and 579 horsepower stock. A tune increases output considerably past 600 horses and this RS6 features a tune from Evotech. Power and torque is on the side of the RS6 in this race and by quite a bit. This tuned twin turbo V10 has to move some considerable mass as the RS6 weighs 4430 pounds.

The E30 on the other hand is over 1000 pounds lighter. The S85 V10 of course adds weight to the chassis but the E30 M3 weighs roughly ~2800 pounds depending on options, trim, and if it is a US or Euro model. The V10 adds weight of course so let's say this E30 M3 is around 3050 pounds if BimmerBoost were to make an educated guess.

It is naturally aspirated so with a good tune it is around 550 horsepower depending on the exhaust setup and fuel. We do not know how aggressive the tune from Evotech is on the RS6 but C6 RS6's routinely get into the 700 horsepower range with a tune. These are not exact figures but here is how this plays out.

Evotech tuned C6 RS6: 6.32 pounds per horsepower
    S85 V10 E30 M3: 5.54 pounds per horsepower

On paper the M3 has an advantage in the power to weight department. In practice, it looks even bigger than it does on paper.

Didn't seem to me like he was driving it very hard. Is that just me? I mean I know I didn't hear any sounds I know that motor is capable of.

Really a shame that generation RS6 never made it here...any decent tune will push them to around 720-730 crank hp, and I think the record so far is over 1000 with just bolt-ons and race gas. Crazy powerful engine. Heavy cars, but with that kind of power, doesn't matter. Although they don't like turns so much from what I've heard. Look up Sportmile...german tuner that has made many of these things into monsters. Think they hold the record.

That S85 M3 is a weapon, now it just needs a Gintani supercharger Click here to enlarge

Well when you just need to go straight you don't even need a steering wheel I guess...
