Supercharged SLS Black Series goes 138 in the 1/4 mile

Not sure if I will ever take the SLS to the drag strip. I have an AMG that is capable of high 8's or low 9's running a 10 second car set up for road racing does not make much sense.

Made three passes. could not do big burnouts becuase I need the tires for the USCA road course event today and tomorrow at Texas Motor Speedway. Event requires 200 treadwear or harder tire compound and I was only running 315's, stock tires are 325's with a 160 treadwear(super soft and sticky) . Even with all those restrictions I managed to pull off a 10.7 @ 138 mph. Its easily a 10.4 car with some more practice and drag radials but I am not going to find out.

I hoped this answered somemof your questions.

Congrats. Nice run. I think you have a world record for an SLS

Although, you are not making 725whp as you are claiming

Car is sligtly detuned to 700whp for the USCA road racing event. If you dont believe me watch the Search For The Ultimate Street Car TV show when it airs. I had to participate in a dyno shootout, which I won and made 698.9whp on the K&N dyno at the K&N R&D center, I think their dyno is pretty accurate. The film crew was at the drag strip last night as well filiming for the TV show so if anyone wants further proof it will be aired on tv. Not really sure why I am bothering to even explain myself. So many doubters on these $#@!ing boards. I run my cars while most of you run your keyboards.

How much power do you think it takes to trap 138?

138 is enough to run 9's.

I understand trap speed very well sir

I Also understand that a standard SLS with Headers/Tune traps 132 mph

why is it that a supercharged SLS BS only trapping 6mph more???

Where is the 132 slip you're referencing? I haven't seen a naturally aspirated SLS run that.

The car is making over 700 whp. Roughly ~10 whp per 1 mile per hour but this increases as you go faster. The SLS Black Series has more downforce and different gearing from a standard SLS.

Considering the SLS Black Series in naturally aspirated form can do 600 whp 700+ with mild boost on pump gas is cake.

your right. just to remind you, an SLS BS dynos 510-525rwhp in stock form. Jrcart is claiming 725whp, which is 200whp more than stock!
Now an SLS BS traps 129mph in stock form
    Jrcart is trapping 138mph

How is 200whp equating to an increase of just 8mph??

    You see my point?

Hurt my feeling, no....make me laugh, YES!

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Your reading skills are lacking, you must have missed the part about the tires I was running and the size of the tires. Did that NA SLS that trapped at 132 have DRs mounted to it? I call bull$#@! on a NA SLS trapping over 130 on non DR street tires.

Sorry man, gotta go, been fun but I am at the track, you should try it some time.

First of all, 138 is very fast and takes a ton of power. Let's get that out of the way.

Secondly, that is not 132 miles per hour. It's 130 miles per hour. 130.7 to be exact.

The Black Series runs 204.68 kph or 127.182 miles per hour which is surprisingly exactly what it should run.

So add 11 miles per hour of trap speed to that. It's going to take quite a bit of a power increase to get there.

My car went from 115 to 130 with an additional ~200 whp. As you get up there in trap speed the power it takes to increase it grows at a geometric rate.

So, 127 to 138 is roughly an increase of 200 whp. It is not an exact science but going from an already fast 127 on a high drag car designed for downforce is not the same as going from a stock 124 or so for the SLS to 130.

The two cars are in different stratospheres of power.

The Black Series is making the power. I can even bet money on it. It's not like it would be hard for me to e-mail Weistec and ask for a dyno.

I'd have to think hard to come up with any German cars not making 700+ that are going 138+.

That's believable. 15mph makes more sense than 9mph

not hard. Renntech trapped 144mph in their 625whp heavier SLR.

a stock BS has been tested to run 11.1 @129mph
and you only ran 10.7 by making "200whp" more?

    talk about funny bro

check out the video, it ran 11.1 @129

Yep. And how much power do you it think it takes to go from 130 to 138?

How does a standard SLS apply to a black Series with more drag and tighter gearing?

No, it didn't. 129 isn't an absolute. Magazine times aren't absolutes. 127 is what one should run in desert air. Trap speeds are going to vary they aren't set in stone.

Once again it takes completely different levels of power to from 115 to 130 than it does from high 120's to high 130's. I'm not sure why you aren't understanding this.

I just don't think you have much experience on the drag strip in all honesty.

138 shows it's making the power and then some.

LOL man a 625 whp SLR isn't going 144. 144 is what a Veyron traps. I just don't think you understand the mathematical relation between trap speed and horsepower.

Here's a 144 mile per hour Corvette C7, it took 890 whp to get there: http://chevyboost.com/content.php?45...boost-only-LT1

If you think that SLR is making 625 whp and running 144 you just don't know what you're saying.

    talk about funny bro

check out the video, it ran 11.1 @129

You're quoting VBOX times. A VBOX will read roughly 2 miles per hour higher than a drag strip due to showing the GPS mile per hour at the 1/4 mile mark rather than averaging speed over two sets of timing lights. That is why VBOX times are faster than strip times.

I'm sorry, you just don't know what you're saying.

So much misinformation in your post I really don't know where to start

first of all, a standard SLS that revs to 7200rpm did 130.7 and a black series making 200whp more that revs to 8000rpm only did 138? Looks like you need som logic bro

second, the curb weight of an SLS BS with 70kg driver is 3417lbs. Now let's say Jim weighs 120kg, it would be 3528lbs

here, use these calculators and you will see that the 725whp is off base dude:

i seriously didn't know it was a VBOX time. I guess you are right on that one
