Thumbs down Mclaren owner hits curb, loses wheel, decides to drive 7 blocks with no wheel

All the prices he describes in this video are correct. I know of shops that replaced a hood on a wrecked SLR. This made my heart hurt. Click here to enlargeClick here to enlargefacepalm

Doesn't the guy that's talking in the video own a supercar rental shop? Can't rememeber his name (Rob?) but I remember his voice. He rents cars for events like the Gumball 3000. His insurance will most likely cover that but I wouldn't be surprised if that was written off.

ITs more like 50k. A friend of my buddies shop had a 25mph collision on the front end. $55k for replacement OEM hood and paint matched.

Umm these prices just don't add up...how can a hood cost even $75k (even 55k as stated above) and rotors $25k (yes he said only the carbon ceramic rotors) for a car that was what? $500k brand new? So $175k for rotors and hood? You can buy that car used now for that price...I find it hard to believe those prices are even close, even for genuine MB, just makes no sense whatsoever.

Unlike other AMGs, the Mclaren shares no parts. Except for the M113K it has inside (which has its own variation of cooling and camshafts) it is a very rare car.

Heres a link for parts for the brakes
    http://www.mbpartsworld.com/p/gb/Mer...wd=&origin=pla

Heres a link for the hood
    http://www.mbpartsworld.com/p/__/AIR...998801536.html

and the second part to that
    http://www.mbpartsworld.com/p/__/AIR...998801036.html

This is unpainted. May not be 75k (like stated in the video) but is at least 25k-30k with paint.

Considering the owner probably pays $700/mo (implying he has a clear driving record) that would be the best case for this. I'm sure his insurance even had a stipulation in it (can only drive xxx amount of miles in a month)

700$ isn't even that bad! I'm paying 280 for my 335 a month, but that's cause I got 2 points LOL. More than likely there is a limited amount you can drive to be insured. I know a few buddies with Ferraris that are the same thing. I believe he's at 400 miles a month or so.

$280 isnt bad for 2 points. I got two "super" speeder (90+mph) tickets via highway patrol and ended up with 2 points also. Beautiful thing paying almost the same for insurance as your car payment. I was paying almost $400~ a month with my coverage. I just now got those points off my record and barely pay over $170. Feels goodman.
