E55 AMG beating up on 335is galore and a 135i

Met up with some local guys (me in my E55) for some friendly runs with all different flavors of tuned 335i and 135i setups. Even though there weren't victories for the Bimmers I figured I would post the video if anyone wanted to watch.

Looks like fun. What kind of transmissions were in the Bimmers?

Nice runs, your car looks like a beast up top. Looks like you must be from Jax area? I recognize Bill's white E90. I'll have to get a run in with you if i ever make it out on the weekends again. PS. that B5 is SLOW. That car is never running right, i put a few bus lengths on him last time we ran.

    Good stuff.

Your car definitely moves out, especially on the top end. Have you ever taken it to a track to see what kind of MPH and ET you're getting?

Yes I am in Jacksonville. I actually just took the E55 to Gainesville on Saturday. I was running on 20" wheels like in the video and street tires so didn't expect any great times but just wanted to see what it would trap. I ran 2 times and went 12.1@120 and then I bounced the limiter shifting manually from 1st to 2nd on 2nd run and went 12.2@118, both runs with a 2.0 60ft time.

If those are all stock turbo 335's thats why you are walking them up top, the stock turbos run out of breath, find one of our stage 2 cars, or an RB car. They should be able to pull with you up top, would be an interesting race.

Yes the are all stock turbo. All but one had catless downpipes and then they all but one had intakes and 2 had meth injection. I think I remember one saying something about map 5 for his Juicebox tune? And the white one was running 18.5psi from what he said on meth.

A good running 335 with upgraded turbos and a custom tune will run sub 11.5's if he is automatic, an MT has to be a good driver on good tires or street slicks to get any close to that, but from a roll they should all do ok.

I could run a mid 11 if I was on drag radials right now, but as you know that is all up to the 60ft in which when I went to the track with my 20s they were 2.0 instead of 1.5 or 1.6s with a smaller wheel and drag radial setup. What would a common trap speed be? Not the "world record" but what "most" would run if they went to the track with upgraded turbos?

They run anywhere from 122-127 depending on the car.

Lots of people running lots of different set ups.

Here is a copy and paste of a tuners sig. You can see the big MPH differences

I've never seen a stock blower E55 walk a FBO + meth n54 especially a 135i. Great runs for sure but I have a couple here I've built/tuned that I'd love to see against your e55.

Ok so looking at that sig those are all world records so one should expect most others to run a few mph lower than those numbers in all the different examples.

I can say for certain that all the cars I met weren't running 120mph since the very next day that is what I ran at the track and as you see in the video I pulled on every last one of them 335i or 135i, the fastest one there that night might have trapped 116.

A win is a win don't understand the whining. You run what you brung it's not your fault they didn't show up with upgraded turbos or anything else. The fact you ran 3 different cars makes it even clearer. Don't under estimate a FBO E55 I've seen my tuner push them past 500 whp with huge torque everywhere and that's without headwork or cams the standard pulley, headers/full exhaust, intake, heat exchanger/inter cooler, etc. the key for top end in these cars is a proper working water pump, heat exchanger, and bigger throttle bodies. Before my headers (c63) when I dynoed 465-470 whp on a dynojet I ran against one of the shops e55's and got pulled. Now it's the other way around

haha, yeah - i agree. I've always had much respect for the E55's, they get nasty when done right.

@Urbamworm, My car will likely be similar in performance to the white E90 you raced, i just have the standard bolt-ons w/meth injection. If you were up for a run it would just be for $#@!s and giggles, as i expect you would pull me. I've trapped as high as 119, but that was on my own tune. Right now i am in the process of getting my car professionally tuned, so maybe we can meet up once its finalized. I expect to be around 118 once this map is done (93+meth).

The AMG motors are always fierce...it's the drivetrain and chassis that let's things down.

OP you put those cars to sleep up top. Nice runs.
