Here it is, official photos of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz X156 GLA250

Well that was fast! Mercedes just teased the GLA250 yesterday with a video and design sketches and the official photos of the GLA250 have already been released just hours afterwards. Yes, the design is much more toned down than the GLA Concept car. It would have been great if it kept the aggressive rear taillights but it is difficult to keep a production model close to the concept when costs of materials and production get factored in.

The design obviously borrows a bit from the CLA250 which is most noticeable in the headlights. Speaking of the CLA250, the GLA250 is basically a crossover mirror. It features the same 2.0 liter four cylinder turbocharged and direct injected M271 four-cylinder offering 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This is routed to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The CLA250 weighs 3,264 pounds and it will be interesting to see how close the GLA gets to this figure.

The car looks great inside and out and will be a great value in the segment challenging the BMW X1 and the not yet for sale in the USA Audi Q3. The upcoming GLA45 AMG performance variant is thus far unrivaled except by the RS Q3 which once again is not yet for sale in the USA (and may never be).

I like it, though I'm not a fan of SUVs and SAVs in generel.

Excellent question. As it is a dual clutch it likely won't tow as much as an automatic.

    So, very light towing...

I only ask because I've been looking for something to tow my track bike - about 1000lbs. with trailer. Since the tow vehicle is really just that, I'm not looking to spend much money.

If the GLA comes in around $30K plus options, and can tow ~1500lbs., then it would be a great option. The X1 doesn't appear to be capable of towing.

I'm probably going to end up with a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Click here to enlarge

The X1 will likely tow more with the N55 and auto than this. Light towing shouldn't be a problem.

I'd expect $35k. Way better than a Sante Fe sport.

I'm tempted by the GLA45 AMG. Need to replace the Cayenne with something.
