    Help - Mercedes Dyno Testing / dyno modes

    I took my car to the cp-e 10th anniversary event this past Saturday hoping to get some baseline dyno numbers on my car. They aren't a Mercedes shop, but they have a modern Mustang dyno and experience with other cars (BMW, Ford, Mazda mostly).

    The car was put in dyno mode, sport mode, and manual. But they weren't able to get good numbers off the car because it would downshift out of 4th (this is the gear they tested though apparently the closest gear for 1:1 is actually 5th) everytime they went WOT.

    Anyone know if there is a way to lock the transmission in a gear higher than first that will prevent down-shifting? Or are companies like RennTech, et al, doing the measurements in 1st?

    You had it in the right settings. In my C63 it won't Downshift in manual mode but on non amg's it will. The solution is simple.
    you know how there is a "button" on the bottom of the gas pedal that your hear click when you go WOT? Just press the gas pedal all the way down without hitting that button and it will not down shift out of your selected gear. Just takes a bit of foot finesse to have it pressed all the way without hitting the button. That's what's causing it to downshift

    No you can go WOT just DONT push the button in at the end of the gas pedal. That button serves as a indicator to the trans that you want to be in the lowest gear possible hence why it downshifts. You can still be at 100% WOT with the pedal down all the way without hitting the button just takes some finesse and a few trys to have it down all the way without hitting the button. Its the only way believe me i went thru the same thing with my previous sl550 on the dyno

    the guys at renntech and weistec will tell you the same thing. There is no way to lock it into gear and i found out from the shop owner that does all the work to my car hes dynoed hundreds of benz/bmws and they both have the same issue if they are non M/AMG

    This is correct and applies to any auto cars on the dyno that has a kick down switch.

    My biggest concern is that I have to rely on the foot-talent of the dyno guy. No biggie, it just means I should make arrangements to have the same person do before/after dyno comparisons to get the best feedback. My hopes were for a technical solution that locked out the switch. I wonder if there is a plug I can disconnect.... I'll be taking a look down there tomorrow morning.
