2015 Mercedes-Benz C190 SLC AMG targeting curb weight of 3262 pounds thanks to aluminum body
More and more details are coming forward regarding the upcoming 2015 C190 SLC AMG sports. We already know the base price will start somewhere in the Carrera S and Carrera 4S range so expect to pay somewhere around $120k according to current reports. The motor will be a 4.0 liter turbocharged V8 with 485 horsepower in the base model codenamed the M177. This motor will propel a car weighing somewhere in the 32XX curb weight range.
That is a very low curb weight for a twin turbo V8 sports car in this day and age. It undercuts the SLS AMG by roughly ~400 pounds. How is this possible? Well the SLC will be slightly smaller but it is also getting an aluminum frame from an Austrian company named Magna.
Not only will the SLC compete with the Porsche 911 price and performance wise, it will match it pound for pound so to speak. The PDK 991 Carrera S also makes extensive use of aluminum coming in lighter than the 997 Carrera S it replaced at 3,120 pounds. If AMG can get close to the 991 curb weight while offering a twin turbo V8 with a dual clutch transmission and more power/torque, they truly are going to give the Porsche 911 a run for its money.

Depending upon how far back they can push the motor to get close to a 50:50 weight spread, this thing could kick the 911's ass.
