You basically have to build the motor + fuel system if you want to put down decent numbers. Just something to keep in mind. Stock they are kind of slow but a fun DD.

Any reason you chose not to pick of a 3 series?

My friends with JMS Racing in San Antonio have thrown a few twin kits on a few Gs. They would for sure have me layin down some good numbers. I honestly got the hell away from BMW for my daily due to my experience with bad reliability on my M5. I'm at $44,000 in repairs in 2 1/2 years. Just need some time to get the bad taste out of my mouth. I'm considering a e92 DCT M3 with Evolve S/C setup in the future for a toy when I'm done with the M5.

    $44,000 wow...

They can put down amazing numbers, the VQ can be a beast. Stock I don't think they are much good above 400whp, if memory serves me right this is where they let go, perhaps things have changed though. They can hit over 1000hp but you certainly have to pay...

All about how the car is Tuned. It can put down a bit over 500whp on VHR stock block. The 400 whp limitation is for the DE block which is Old.

I honestly grabbed the G just to cruise & save on gas. The M gets <10 mpg in town & no more than 18 hwy. I did grab it over an 08 GS350 for chance I want to mod the s*it out of it. You guys are motivating me to do some research though lol. A 500whp sleeper daily sounds just like my style.

GTM built my stage 2 kit for my Z back in 2006, it was a complete monster at 524 whp. With more recent technology it isnt uncommon to see a stroker built motor seeing upwards of 1000 horsepower. Sam @ GTM has made some serious, serious VQ motors.

I am very familiar with them Click here to enlarge I was really curious about when the 3.7 lets go as some ass hat is going on and on about it.

I can only imagine how much fun a 4.2l VQ is with two snails. Unless I am mistaken people have gotten the VQ well north of 1000hp.

I just parted out my 3.8L twin turbo 700hp pump gas G35. The 1,000hp G35s are few and far between but they are out there.

***i was going to post pictures but I am too new***Click here to enlarge

Avoid buying turbo kits from GTM they usually send out kits missing parts and it's like pulling teeth to get the parts from them. If you want a GTM kit have them install it. They used to have a great reputation but in the last 2-3 years most people try to avoid them. Unless you just go with a simple TT kit on the stock block the costs get out of hand quick, axles, clutches, fuel system, cooling system all need upgrades when pushing over 600hp. In the end my car was a money pit that was so highly modified I spent more time working on it than I did driving it. In stock form Gs are great cars they respond horribly to NA mods and can be finicky when forced induction is added, I parted the G out and bought an X5M best thing I have done.

That is really impressive! I knew with a twin turbo they'd be really fast, but not like that...wow!

GTM is a great source to acquire your TT Kit or SC from and SAM will take care of you with the price. Any how businesses are bound to have some form of hiccups here and there.

FWIW the 3.7s are even beefier. I've seen several at 600whp+

I don't understand why there's so few 'VQ' builds that make only 1000hp with all the GTRs out there making way more power
