Yeah, that's a decent difference in amount of power on paper... I would have thought that the high redline/gearing advantage would make that up - but as we see, not the case.

I didn't know the 458 would dyno that low regardless of all this - it's much more than I would have thought.

Nice SLS. I would take one any day over a 458. Looks like a real man's car, not like the 458 isn't buy the look is very masculine.

Don't need to Google it, I've seen the move and I'm glad to see you assimilating to western culture so well. LOL

On the other hand, I think it's pretty clear that your comments about the SLS killing, raping and crushing the 458 are 100% wrong as evidenced by just about everyone else here.

@Sticky, I'm also an SLS owner. I have also raced a 458 when my SLS was stock and I walked it.

@SLS AMG, the SLS's that we have in the gulf are more powerful than the ones in the USA. The US spec cars come with more restrictive cats and charcoals in the intake. The ones we have here are 10-15 rwhp more powerful. I believe the 458 emission standard is the same for all specs.

@LZH, I think for someone who explained "with 100% consistency" that the SLS will not beat the 458, where Actually it does, needs to be silent. Whether a win by an inch or a mile. A stock SLS will always be ahead of a stock 458, which is something you disagreed on. Just admit you are wrong and drop it.

@SLS AMG, @AWD75, and I own an SLS and have experienced this trial before. We all had somewhat similar results. You on the other hand, dont have the car nor have you experienced this trial and clearly you are runing the thread for personal reason between you and SLS. Sorry, but you have no credibility at all.

SLS AMG , knows these cars very well and know how well they run. I know him personally, I'll take his word over you all day

I saw a vid. where 458 dynoed at 47X-48X wheel(i believe it was dynoed at hennessey). Also dyno #'s could differ from altitude, wheel/tire combination, humidity etc. So we should find vids of both cars getting dynoed at the same dyno.

Sls is more of a gentlemans car than 458 being more of a sports car but both looks very nice. I wonder how 458 scuderia gonna look?

I saw it as quite close, but the SLS is faster from that roll. Regardless, that was VERY impressive for the SLS. If you've ever seen one with the hood up, it's so frickin long it will hit most garage roofs.
    Great video

10-15 hp is not going to make enough difference for the SLS to "walk" "rape" "kill" or "crush" the 458. I don't know why you guys ignore what we all saw in the video. It's nothing personal, I like the SLS, but I also know what I saw in the three videos posted in this thread and as others have agreed, the races were very very close with the SLS only winning by a slight edge.
And we know that both cars in this video were stock, so that pretty much proves that the SLS in the video from last year WAS NOT STOCK.

First of all I never said "with 100% consistency".
Second, I'll stand by what I know from my first hand experience and by what others here have confirmed. The two cars are so closely matched that I feel they are dead even. In one of the races from the video here, the SLS never pulls away from the 458. I'm not sure why you guys can't see that, yet instead put your usual biased spin on it saying the SLS "crushes" the 458. It clearly does not.

There is nothing personal at all. Why don't you go back and read the thread from the beginning, it was SLS AMG who started with his usual name calling and insults.
My credibility is 100% intact because unlike you guys, I see the video for exactly what it is, a very close race with the 458 hangin right with the SLS. I guess you guys must be watching a different video, like the one from last year where the "stock" SLS pulled away hard form the 458.

Ferraris in tests are not "stock". There you have the reason for the unexpected difference when you actually compare to real stock cars to one another in a real life test situation.

    JMHOFWIW.

That doesn't explain anything in the context of what is being discussed here. But lets just suppose for a minute that its true. That would mean that the 458 in the video from last year was stock (because the SLS walked it hard) and the 458 in the video being discussed here was tuned (because it was able to hang right with the SLS).
Either way, it doesn't explain anything and only further muddies the water.

It should be clear to anyone the cars will be fairly close to one another. There won't be a huge difference between the two.

Sorry to hi jack the thread with my question. 2 same cars one with higher torque but same HP which one should be faster? How much does torque influence the speed of the car?

There's a lot of variables. Gearing, rpm, etc. Where is the torque made? Torque IS horsepower. Torque x rpm / 5252 = HP.

So, the car making more torque at one point is making more hp likely but if it is making that torque at a different rpm and not revving as high well the lower torque car can compensate by increasing torque through gearing.

Take it easy dude, he's wrong/you're right- the SLS took it here (albeit NOT by 2-3 car lengths). Careful how you use the word "always," if there was anything more than zero turns in this race, your SLS would be beyond embarrassed. If you think otherwise... you're also on koolaid. F cars are not made to drag.

What's crazy is that they pass a car at 01:00 (it is BETWEEN them) going 160+. That is some crazy, reckless $#@!. Even at 120 passing, people do stupid $#@!, like swerve into your lane, etc. out of panic. I'd $#@! myself passing them going 100+ mph faster.
