But seriously, Digs are the real showing of how fast the car is from point A to point B, including non motor upgrades, suspsension/tires/lockdown kits/CF DS/HS's / little things.

If you just want to see which motor makes the car move faster, than yes rolls are better. But there is no way to make a 100% fair start.

As well its more of a drivers game if you're driving a manual.

    (my opinion)

I think they both have their merits... (car is high hp fwd)

If I suspect a sub-par driver or a car without a tire with a HP advantage over me...guess what? Grab your shovel...

If only there was a way/event to test both these theories out.. kind like an official grudgematch setup.. digs for everyone first, then roll-ons after.. see who beats who in both types..

it will be wide spread...there are cars that can dig that have enough trap speed behind them to roll race the best of them. But flip side there are cars that can roll but have no work into their suspension for a hole shot worth a damn. It will just be a measure of who had the most money

I like em both, moreso the challenge of launching from a dig. Rolls are fun and its a good way to get a quick run in against someone you happen to bump into on the highway. I do like the high speeds that come with a good roll against a 1000whp car,I get a chubby once I see 200mph on the speedo Click here to enlarge

But Im a diehard old school dragracer at heart,I love me some dig races on the street!! Keep your traction excuses at home and grab a laneClick here to enlarge

Quoted for truth and repped. You have to work the clutch and e-brake hard to launch the 46M with any umfph so to speak. Definitely doable but hard on wear and tear items and takes a bit of practice to master. I have launched the car a lot on a few suspension setups. I am on my third OEM clutch as well. Last one was overkill but the trans was out for SMG swap so why not.

I also found the car easier to launch with the MT after the SMG swap. I had 4 years and over 60,000 miles on the SMGII. IMO, the SMGII sucks for launching....even with upgraded software... period! It was faster everywhere else; however, than an MT. I have found that the MT shines in DD driving and launching.

ROLL for sure ! Cant launch for $#@! with the m156 the torque kicks in so early i just end up roasting the tires and my 'race start' aka launch control seems to be stuck in stock power levels its thinks im still at 370 wheels and ends up ripping the tires, short shifting, bogging, than shifting down once again where it procedes to roast the tires. Wish tuners could tweak launch control as well

Same. I used to only do 'real' races (from a stop) when I had my Subaru, but now I mostly do rolls as it's more dangerous and hard on the car to go from digs in the 335. I use DRs at street events, however, so I can bring it!

I don't have any torque but I like a heads up dig race, assuming it's an even tire race. I prefer this for "real" race because my car is light and I can get it hooked up. For fun, highway rolls.

Same thing when i'm driving my friends E90 M3. I can get consistent 1.8 60 ft's at the track, and the street from a dig is the only place i've ever had a chance against my friends faster 335's

I figure I can do a dig vs a car on true street tires... Or a roll, but the rolls to 150-190 have become addicting for me.

Would be cool if like drag strips we all had roll strips. It's about time for that evolution I would think.
