    Weistec Turbo Upgrade and downpipes-Official

    This is from the Website:
"Weistec Engineering is pleased to release the M157 AMG Turbo Upgrade. We have developed proprietary aerodynamics designed to optimize extreme pressure operation of the M157. The results are astonishing gains resulting in as much as 730 wheel horsepower.
Constructed of billet aluminum, our 71mm impeller wheel is 5-axis CNC machined and flows 53+ lbs/min of air. The light weight impeller design and latest machining technology results in very short spool up times and great overall power. Tailored for use exclusively with the factory M157 Garrett gt22 frame makes this a 100% bolt-on installation. No custom oil and water lines to leak, no headaches. Every factory line connects right to the new turbo, using factory gaskets."

    Check out the downpipes:

    "
Engineered and designed with the most sophisticated Computer Aided Design tools, excellent fitment and the highest performance possible are guaranteed. Each downpipe has a specially designed CNC machined turbo outlet flange, transitioning into a 3 inch pipe and low profile V-Band flanges to mate with our Midpipes.
Downpipes come standard with external Titanium Ceramic Coating and internal Copper Ceramic coating to keep heat inside the piping, helping improve exhaust velocity and reduce engine bay temperatures.
Branded Weistec stainless steel heat shields are also included to block rising heat from the exhaust manifold.
Our Biturbo Midpipes bolt to the Downpipes using a low profile V-Band flange and transition to the factory axle-back. Each Mid-pipe has stainless steel brackets for solid bolt-in fitment and is made of 3 inch stainless steel piping creating a very high flowing quality exhaust system."

Congratulations to Weistec for their pioneering of turbo and downpipe upgrades and offering these so quickly in the M157 engine lifespan well before anyone else.

Additionally, this is not the end of upgrades to come from Weistec for this motor. Stay tuned, plenty more in the pipeline. Congratulations and well done once again, quite the standard being set.

The information in the article is well done. And the pictures, in order is great. Excellent layout Sticky. Made in Romania I take it? They appear to well conceived, engineered and built components. Quality does not come cheap, as I can see from the pricing.

Boutique European manufacturers typically charge serious money, but quality is there.

Their E63 that they has these upgrades mounted on is an absolute monster, at the 1/2 mile airstrip event it ran neck and neck if not slightly quicker than my Weistec stage 3 C BS in the 1/4 mile, my C did not pull it until the big end. I was blown away when I saw getting pulled on the front half by a big heavy four door sedan.

Any idea how much power and torque can be expected from an E63 on 91 octane with the downpipes and a tune?

The guys at AMS stated they couldn't get a clean tach signal which is not uncommon on big hp turbo cars.
Not sure why you can't understand that, which is probably why you got neg repped. AMS has a lot of experience with big hp turbo cars, no reason why they can't do the same thing with the M157.

You'r right my friend, it includes a little bit of straight pipe. Come on, 5K.

My local shop that does ST, could do it custom for about $1K.

Yes, it would not be double coated, etc, etc. But we are talking exhaust piping here.

Again, Weistec, you do GREAT work!!! And thanks for the snail upgrade!!!

But give us little guys a break on the pricing of exhaust pipeClick here to enlarge

I don't think the price is due to the materials alone but the engineering that went into it. If you ask them I'm sure you will have a better understanding. What I was told directly is that it was over 6 months work and nobody else has a solution like this.

And there you have it! Monopoly is rarely good for the consumer.

At least they made it beautiful - and for the money, they should have.

It would be better to have nothing? Other companies need to spend the money and do the engineering themselves. They deserve to recoup their cost and make money. Nobody is stopping competitors...
