    Ever wonder why new Biturbo Benz/BMW engines does no longer use a diverter valves?

    It uses a load shedding from charging operation system. On traditional turbo engines engine, an electrical blow off valve was used in the case of load shedding from full-load operation to reduce the overpressure existing in the intake pipe. The new engines V8 biturbo's uses a software function performs this task: At negative load gradients, the target air mass is increased to a level that exceeds the filling level actually required by the prevailing torque and is compensated for by ignition timing retard or individual-cylinder injection fade-out. This calculated additional air mass ensures that the pump limit of the compressor is not exceeded and no disruptive noise occurs in the compressor. So no need for a BOV valve anymore!

    That makes complete sense but then if you want the sound, I know I know, you need to change the programming if you want to add a BOV?
