I just use imovie for basic stuff, works well enough for trimming/adding titles/adding music which is the extent of what I do with gopro stuff.

I've heard of after effects, is that something a novice can use or is it a bit heavy? Something with a decent learning curve would be good.

the absolute easiest is windows movie maker. BUT if you have A LOT of video to edit, it craps out. The above mentioned are good, but you will need time and i think some education on how to use it. Sure they can do anything you want, but knowing how to do it is another story. all mine are done with WMM.

    Or

    AdobePremiere Pro CS6

They both take a long time to learn, but well worth it.

Not to be rude but Imovie > Movie maker.

They are all fairly hard, but if you are not serious about editing etc don't waste your time, you are better off using youtubes personal editor tool which is pretty bad ass.

I use Adobe Premiere Elements 9.
It is not too difficult to learn, and for the videos I make more than adequate.
And I could get it for cheap...

iMovie for me , mainly because it's free on a Mac, and quite easy. Adobe Premiere Elements doesn't work for $#@! on Mac; maybe it's better on Windows.

Usually use windows movie maker and GoPro CineForm, both are very easy to use, mostly drag and drop.
