The "Joe Biden Says What He Means" & "Fairy Tale" are the only 2 worth showing. Anything that has Fox News clips in it is worthless cause people will immediately dismiss it.

The Super Pacs are significantly better at coming up with effective commercials, like this one:

Not a single policy prescription for fixing anything in any one of these ads. The goal of these ads isn't to fix America's ills, it is to elect their representative to the presidency. If you had put up 9 ads from Dems, you wouldn't be any more enlightened. They are all meant to appeal to the Honey Boo Boo's and Obama phone lady.

There are no conservative principles in any of these ads any more then there are liberal principles in any Democrat ads. More "he said she said", "no your not, yes I am" BS. Faux News and MiScreantNBC are not news stations, but opinion piece journalism tools meant to sway opinion by massaging facts into narratives that support whatever BS they are selling. If there guy wins, think of the audience, thereby ad dollars they receive.

highlighting that the current has no plan and repeating rhetoric isnt worth knowing? i mean, dems say it about romenys plan al the time.. a bit one sided there..

Talking about creating jobs isnt a prescription for fixing anything.. so highlighting that one guy does have successful experience, and the other had none/ showing still has no success in doing so isnt highlighting an important fact?

admitting that wanting to raise taxes by a trillion, when they keep going in the debates that they dont, isnt an important fact?

by his own admission he has to be inside to change washington, gets on the inside and admits he cant change washington from the inside, we should not hold him to his statements?

    objective reasoning right thurr

I agree with yage that basically 100% of these campaign ads focus more on exposing the flaws of the opponent instead of illustrating a solution. BUT, to expect to get any credible amount of information on a candidates platform from a 60 second tv ad is completely unrealistic.

Now this is gonna be a real mind$#@!, but the REAL problem isn't the politicians, it's the electorate (aka, American public). We have the power to vote, reelect the candidates we support & impeach the politicians who we disapprove. But because the American public cares more about what's on the cover of US weekly instead of what's actually happening in the US & the issues that have an actual impact in your daily life (economic health, international relations, etc). You're "average" American voter knows so little about either candidate (their short comings & successes) that they are incapable of forming a decent argument of why their voting for candidate "x".

If the American public wants a real, authentic solution that's actually going to create significant change, people need to educate themselves more about what's actually taking place in Washington DC, what the President & their representatives are doing and expect more from them. If they don't like it, they have the power to change it by not supporting them. If people actually knew the facts & demanded results from the their Congressmen (where the real power in politics exists), we wouldn't be wasting tax payer money on Congressional hearings over steroids in baseball & letting them continue to dick around with bi-partisan bull$#@!. IF the electorate actually demanded more from their representatives, it would force them to actually to do their job if they wanted to continue to remain in office.

    //end rant

Closing Note - These adds do serve a purpose tho, specifically illustrating that he's failed to deliver on the promises Obama he made during his '08 campaign and instead, made things much worse.

    No we don't.

We elect someone to vote for us.

We have representatives making decisions for us instead of making them directly.

We can't impeach anything, Congress can.

We barely have any power. We the people are $#@!ed in this system that was designed hundreds of years ago. Time for an update...

Clinton was impeached b/c the American because the American public flipped out, not because Congress gave a flying $#@! about him putting his dick in a staffers mouth.

Truth of the matter is we don't deserve an update because majority the electorate are idiots who care more about getting free $#@! from the government then whether or not we destroy the economy.

The American people can't initiate any impeachment proceedings, congress can. We have no power. All that happened is his political rivals used it against him, that's it. They don't give a $#@! about the American people.

It isn't a matter of whether we deserve or do not deserve an update, we don't deserve such a broken system to begin with as that was never the intention.

I'm fully aware that the American public cannot directly initiate the impeachment process, but b/c of the overwhelming amount of pressure the American public placed on their Reps, they started the hearings.

And it's easy to provide criticism, but are you able to provide a viable solution?

Yep and so we don't have this power, we have representatives and we don't really vote directly for anything. They don't even trust us to vote for the president instead we appoint somebody to vote for us. We're controlled just people don't see it.

Click here to enlarge Originally Posted by benzy89 Click here to enlarge

    Absolutely.

First of all, I'd eliminate the house of representatives and change it so that you don't need a representative but can vote on legislation directly. Your amount of votes is proportional to what you contribute to the country. As in, a homeless drug addict bum does not have the same amount of votes as say a doctor. You simply vote directly with your own votes OR you can appoint someone to use your votes like a current Representative today. That way people who don't have the time can still have their voice be heard but either way someone who spent 10 years in college and is making 6 figures paying a large amount of taxes won't have their voice cancelled out by some piece of trash getting high with government funds all day. Make sense? People would have a direct voice.

Secondly, electoral college is eliminated. No need for it, outdated system, delete it. American people vote directly. They have mastered this with American Idol but not with the presidency?

Thirdly, Federal Reserve eliminated and power of printing money is returned to the people as specified in the Constitution.

Lastly, the supreme court justices are appointed by the people and not the president. The president's roomate at Yale is not going to get an appointment just because one saw the other one doing lines of coke. Enough of this fraternity bull$#@! in politics.

I mean this is just a rough draft but I could have the whole system fixed in a week probably if I took the time.

    Problems:

    1. You're creating a class system, which is the specific problem that led to the Revolutionary War.
    2. What justifies a "significant" contribution to the country? Are we evaluating a proportional contribution from an individuals income tax, or just a concrete dollar amount?
    3. Voter Fraud still remains unsolved. People fake their taxes & could easily do this to give themselves a more powerful vote. Also your logic that more educated peoples' vote carries one flaw -- do you believe that movie stars/professional athletes deserve to have votes that count more then the middle-income citizens' because they're somehow "contributing" more?
    4. While you cite the Declaration for supporting evidence to eliminate the Fed Reserve, you're directly in violation of one of it's most well known statements:

that all men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights
The Electoral College was invented to specifically counter balance the popular vote because the Founding Fathers were fully aware that by giving every American an equally valued vote, that it would become a popularity contest. I do agree that the Electoral College is a ridiculous system, but it serves a purpose.

I agree that there are several problems with the current system, but I believe they can be fixed by shrinking government & reducing/eliminating the unnecessary amount of govt. programs that are giving "free $#@!" (phones/healthcare/welfare without a work requirement/etc) to people who are only taking from the system instead of contributing back their "fair share".

We already have a class system referenced by tax brackets. We constantly hear about low, middle, and upper class. It already exists.

We would still have balance as instead of having representatives by population it would be by contributions. Essentially, amount paid in taxes. It would even encourage people to pay more and not find loopholes as if you do you are ceding power. It also would allow the higher educated and more successful to have more influence as they should since they are contributing far more.

This would need to be tweaked but it would start with taxes paid, certainly. You could add in people employed, jobs created, etc.

How does it remain unresolved? People fake their taxes to pay less, not more. Faking this only hurts a persons amount of votes/power. People would have to pay more to have more power, what is the problem?

I think if a professional athlete is paying a ton of money to the government they deserve to have some say. They are people too this isn't based on education solely.

Plus, the senate still exists so I'm proposing balancing congress and giving people a direct vote line. It would also limit lobbying considerably as lobbyists can't go to everyone to try to buy a vote. Much easier with a set number of representatives isn't it?

I mentioned the Constituion not the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration is not our government model it is our reasons for declaring independence.

It was created in a time where we did not have instant information. It was not just to protect the popular vote but also because information traveled slowly over great distance. I don't need to appoint someone to choose for me, don't want it. I want to choose for myself.

It already is a popularity contest and electors only go for the two major parties. With people voting directly other parties might actually have a chance of getting elected.

I understand why the Electoral College was implemented but it's outdated today.

What I'm proposing is more power for the people which is how it should be to begin with. I have to go call some senator to get things done? Or get some law passed? F that, I would prefer to vote directly in congress thank you.

The current system was designed centuries ago, let's update it. The world has changed, information flows more freely, I don't need people voting for me.

Another problem with your system is it really only works if everyone who can cast a vote takes some small interest in actually investigating the facts and evaluating the pros & cons of any piece of legislation.

Even in your system, lobbyist would still exist & have a significant impact. Instead of persuading Reps from the House (since you're keeping the Senate), they would work for political advertising agencies & continue to pursue Senate support. Since working on the campaign, the biggest "disappointment" has been how uninformed some people are. By no means is Mitt Romney 100% right, but some people believe believe all the bull$#@! they see on tv (which has an agenda & looks to appeal to a specific audience, so they're going to report their "version" of the news).

PS -- The US Constitution reiterates the "all men are equal" message in the Amendments covering US Citizens Rights. Short version is that all American citizens are free & equal under the protection of law (and then goes on how we all deserve a fair trial decided by an unbiased jury, etc etc).

For the record, I believe that the govt needs a major overhaul. It might not be as intense as what you're suggesting, but I do believe that the Tax System/IRS is the 1st thing that should get dealt with. Personally, I'm all for the Flat Tax b/c regardless of what you're actually making, you're contributing the same 9% (thank you Herman Cain) as everyone else. Unlike you, I just have no confidence in the electorate & do not believe that a direct representation system would be beneficial.

You assume congressmen do? You know how many don't even show up to vote or don't even read the legislation but have underlings do it?

How many vote based solely on party lines?

I don't think having to read and know what you are voting is is a problem. Don't people have to know issues now to vote on various ballot measures?

That's fine but my point remains regarding the power to print money is reserved for the people as being specified in the Constitution.

Personally, I'm all for the Flat Tax b/c regardless of what you're actually making, you're contributing the same 9% (thank you Herman Cain) as everyone else. Unlike you, I just have no confidence in the electorate & do not believe that a direct representation system would be beneficial.
I don't even think my suggestion is that intense. I want better balance and more power for the people. Instead of this veil of a democracy, which we really aren't, I would like some direct interaction. I don't believe the average congressman is any smarter than I am.
