World Motorsports claiming to build a twin turbo M156/M159 motor? SLS prototype twin turbo kit

They say they are targeting SEMA in 3 weeks but I doubt they will make that window. I also think there is a ton of work ahead if they this will even be pulled off:

We are building a Twin Turbo kit for the 63 engine and we decided to use an SLS model to prototype the kit on. We are building this car for the SEMA show and if you would like to see some prototype pictures of how it's coming along you can like our Facebook page and keep up to date on all of our Mercedes projects.

We are also building a new ML63 for the show and a C250 Coupe.
They are located in Torrance so I can go by and check if need be.

Wow that's awesome. You really are making SEMA in 3 weeks?

How about we schedule something for next week, is that cool? I would like to take to photos and obviously will be asking a ton of questions. Just want to make sure you have the time available and I'm prepared. Perhaps a short interview as well if you don't mind.

World Motorsports creating a twin turbo kit for Mercedes 63 AMG Motors (M156/M159) - Prototype SLS AMG Twin Turbo Kit

This is a rather interesting development in the Mercedes-Benz AMG performance scene. Truth is, World Motorsports is a newer name and one not seen on BenzBoost before. A Mercedes SLS AMG Twin Turbo kit certainly is quite a way to make an entrance. They already seem to have the turbos mounted but hardware is only one part of puzzle. What about the tuning? What about the impact of the torque on the SLS dual clutch transmission? These are just some of the problems posed.

World Motorsports is located in Torrance, California and Benzboost was invited out to see what they are up to. A very generous offer as most companies won't allow anyone to visit when they are preparing for a show (SEMA) and wrapping up very difficult work. Apparently they are going to try to make it to SEMA in Las Vegas which is less than three weeks away. Not a long window but it would be impressive if they were to make it.

Plumbing is said to be 80% complete at this point and the car should be hitting the dyno soon. BenzBoost will hopefully be able to provide more info shortly after stopping by the shop. For now, enjoy the development pictures below.

I've always said the only way to FI the M156 would be with turbos...Weistec's blower is an impressive package and proven very reliable. I'm very interested to see more details on this build. Seems going straight to the M159 will make the biggest impression....wonder how much of the work and parts will carry over to the M156?? Good luck to World Motorsports, impressive project indeed.

Very interesting indeed. I can't wait to hear more and how that might relate to the C63.

I'm wondering if this is going to be for turbo kits or just a one-off to promote the shop?

Also, will it be done with the M156 as well or just M159?

I'm sure they see the amount of business and success that Weistec has had with their blower and know that they could take a large segment of those looking for FI on the M156. And as that motor ages and becomes cheaper for the guys looking to mod...there will be more and more market share that they could take from Weistec. Personally, I've never liked blowers and all the headaches that going along with running them hard for long periods of time. Turbos are the only way to go and if these guys can get the tuning figured out they will have something very valuable.

@Sticky - let me know when you go down there...I might join you if that's OK.

I don't see why not. Of course you are talking all new internals, fueling, driveline upgrades etc... and probably some top end work but the M156 flows real nice in stock form. And easy way to do it would be to have Weistec to a complete motor build with all the driveline upgrades and transmission upgrades then let World do the turbo install. And since turbos are so much more efficient I see no reason why they couldn't make 12-1500hp. It'd probably cost at least $60k though but anything is possible with a fat enough checkbook.

There are pluses and minuses. Turbos have bigger power potential but I'm a huge fan of the twin screw powerband on the M156. It just feels amazing to have power everywhere and through the redline. No lag, no waiting, it's just different.

In theory on paper, maybe but rather no. The UGR TT V-10's have the advantage of their layout allowing much larger turbos as well as their longer powerband.

The M156.M159 would need much larger turbos than what I see there and it looks fairly tight as is.
