It's been down the track a whole ton of times. Looks like it will be ready in time for the Shift-Sector event Earl is attending...

You don't have more work in your CLK than I do in the M3.

Not 3 years but a while. Let them talk, that's all they can do. It will be done when it's done. Doesn't bother me as much as everyone else.

Oh, and one shop wasn't involved. I don't know why they get all the blame.

Unfortunately I can only tell you the ambient temp on my car was 96 degrees at the time, but it was definitely cooler outside.

I was able to weigh the car with everything in it including myself. Total weight was 4225 lbs.

I should also add that I added 5 gallons of 104 octane to my almost empty 9 octane fuel. This was the 3rd run after adding the fuel.

That's a hell of an improvement.

    Only change was race gas?

Yes. I had another run with a 12.368 and a couple 12.4's. I was actually a bit surprised hitting the lower than 12.3, but I'll take it. Click here to enlarge

One other thing I forgot to mention though was that run I did not go through the water. I still did a burnout though. That may have contributed to the improvement since I am on Pirelli P-Zero All Season street tires.

    You need drag radials ASAP.

The problem is I'd have to drive 1.5 hours there and back on DR's.

Here's a video of the run and you can see how bad the reaction time is. It's like I was waiting for something and then realized the light had turned green.

Here's what I did. Get you a set of Forgeline 17x9.5, GA1R. I had an older set of forgelines, but my next set might be these. Then get some Hoosier DOT drag radials, 275/40/17. You can drive to the track with 'em in the trunk, seats folded down. Swap 'em out, and you're good to go! Well worth the cost.

The camera was mounted on roof of car and windows are closed. Is it possible the shift you heard was from the other car? I have thought the shifting was off before, but between 3-4. Not sure though.

I'll have to work on getting a video with a view of the gauges during shifting.

You can change them at the track.

Also, 1.5 hours is not too bad to do on drag radials as long as it is not wet out. I actually did a 3 hour drive in the rain on them once... but some people think I take my drag racing a little too seriously Click here to enlarge

Marco with the 10 second CL65 drove his ClWith DRs from Chicago to MIR in a snow storm few years ago. My hauler could hardly stay on the road, when he showed up at the hotel in DC I could not believe it.

I like this idea. The only thing is it's a little difficult since I live in a condo in downtown Chicago and my parking spot is in a parking garage one block away. I don't even have assigned spaces in my garage so the wheels would either sit in my condo or at a shop.

Given my situation I need to work with what I have as much as possible. I'm sure there are people who would be interested in hitting the track once or twice, but don't because they might think they need to have a drag setup. I would be interested in seeing a list of minimally evasive improvements to a stock vehicle for the one timer or someone who might make it 2-3 times.

Things I can think of off the top of my head are:
    1) Lower tire pressure
    2) Race fuel or race fuel mixture
    3) Better handling street tires

What else could you guys suggest to others who want to keep their car stock or don't have the tools to swap out wheels, etc.?

Honestly, to figure out how to make it work. The tires are just about the most important part of the equation on the strip. Until you try it you just won't understand. You have to run drag radials if you want to improve.

I've been MIA lately since my computer was being repaired. Here's a little video clip of the sound of my new exhaust. I still haven't taken her out on the track yet. I was waiting to get it tightened up after a few heat cycles.

Speedriven in Palatine, IL (http://www.speedriven.com) did the work and it sounds bad ass.

I'll post some pics later after I resize them.

    Sounds great.

So you did the MBH rear, mid, and headers?

I got the MBH headers, mids and x-pipe. I kept the stock resonators. Here are some pics of the parts and install.

The headers are pretty tight on the driver side and we had to do a slight modification to get the x-pipe to fit into the stock pipe resonator on the driver side.

I also have the Eurocharged v4 tune for the header setup. I haven't been driving too hard because I have been mostly driving in the city with little room on the highway to get the car moving.

Also, I was not able to get time off work to hit the dyno before I got the install so there won't be any before/after dyno numbers.

The best I will be able to do is take it back to the track and race her again and see how it improves.
