Left of with the motor apart. Will update with some assembly pictures:

Cleaning the block pavement special styles

This is the most important part in engine assembly so we cleaned and we cleaned.

We then measured and measured and measured. The rings where moved around until we reached the point that only two needed to be modified to be within spec.

The components for the power waited very patiently all this time.

The pistons where put in slowly cautiously.

The Weistec conrods and pistons where eventually in and the crankshaft had a lovely action to it.
We then proceeded to close the bottom end.

The bottom end was closed up successfully without any headaches. When we washed the oil pump we found a piece of plastic similar to a piece of cable tie in it that must've been there from the car when the car was new :flyfun: Quite wierd and it worrisome considering the environment these motors are assembled.

Here is the bottom end with the sandwitch plate installed and torqued.

We got around to installing the ARP head studs and putting the heads on.

Next was to install the modified Weistec heads that include SLS valve buckets and modified SLS cam splash plates and covers. I will do the pictures of the top end in my next post but we hit a bit of a hurdle here.
It turns out that the original cam timing on the car was of by a degree or two on 3 of the camshafts. This amount was within AMG tolerance I guess. We couldn't move the cams a tooth to adjust them right as each tooth is too much of a jump. At the end of the cams there is a bolt which holds the gear in place. This is a stretch bolt so needs to be changed. I ordered the bolts long time ago. Turns out its the right part number with the wrong bolt so we need to order again. So we stuck for the next few days.

    The missing bolt x 4.

The good news is my body kit is at customs and my drag set up wheels have arrived.

I have two sets of full slicks with skinnies at the front and a set of DOT Drag Radials. They are 15 inch wheels and I have a C300 brake conversion at the back for race days.

No airboxes, chances are open headers. I know i wouldnt want to bolt the rest of the exhaust up just yet until I knew it started, and I think this was the first start Click here to enlarge

We left air boxes off to check for fluid leaks along the fuel rail and around the motor.

Smoke is normal first start greasy hands all over the place smoke. Typical of a motor that just got built. It looks like there is fire under the car but it's. Tech with a work light checking for leaks.

I also managed to do some foot flat logs of the 11psi tune. Weistec has gotten it spot on with no timing drop outs and the AFR's steady through the range. Loading the car over and over at 4th and 5th gear speeds I managed to see a maximum of 150 degrees F intake temp with a 95 ambient. All in all I am happy. Racefuel is on the ship and soon we will see what the big boost pulley is all about.

I wasn't sure what to expect. The items seem to fit ok. I was expecting more ABS plastic and less fibre. The front bumper box was shipped upside down and was damaged/cracked as in broken on the one side. Will get it repaired locally but will see their response as well. I guess I have to wait to see it fitted but everything seems to fit pretty well with a bit of work required on the arches. Prior told me this would be necessary so I am cool with that.

The new dilemma now is that I cannot decide on the wheels I like so I am going to wait for the body work to be on the car before I order. Going to look wierd driving with the stock wheels hehe.

Looking good....I can not wait to see the body kit. The bigger boost pulley is fun too, I might be bolting one on to the C this weeknd at the airstrip event especially for Sticky since he has been all about wanting to line up against the C.
