    Obama Care has passed.

It seems like just when you thought you weren't going to get taxed some more here is another new tax. Thoughts?

The only people that will be "taxed" are those that can afford health insurance and refuse to get it.

If I want health insurance I'll buy it myself. I don't need the government telling me that I have to pay extra taxes for something I don't need nor want.

Gotta love it when the government gets to decide what you can, and cannot, afford. They set an arbitrary income amount and anyone below gets it for free, and anyone above has to pay for it, even if they do not want it.

    +1 my friend.

Best part is, IF your employer ops out, as some will as it is cheaper for them to do so. You are left without insurance and if you don't purchase your own now, you will be taxed. GREAT job Obamanation, you should be proud, LOL.

It's the only way the system can keep the costs down.

Or we can just stop helping people who don't have health insurance or the money to pay for the care.

if your not capable of supporting yourself, in every facet, then you should die as nature intended. this is why we have the job/population problems we have today. too many people live too long.

dont make enough money to get healthcare? oh well, guess you not the strongest suited homosapien, make enough money to pay for it, ok, you move on to the next round.

How does natural selection have anything to do with the society that we live in? To me it sounds like your trying to equate turn of the century pseudo-science with actual natural selection. Natural selection =/= "Survival of the fittest" (social darwinism).

Technically you were already paying for "two" to begin with. Hospital would raise their prices in order to pay for the uninsured thus your insurance company would pass on the cost onto you. With the updated health care system you will still pay for "two" but in the long run health care will be better controlled and cheaper. ( in theory, but people always seem to be able to exploit any system)

You don't pay for two. If you have insurance - you have insurance. If not, you have to get it by 2014.

However, if you make over 200k a year, yes - you will have to pay .9% more a year in taxes. Here is a good article explaining this: http://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikei...did_it/c530lfx

This is what they are trying to do, but the mandate is just there to cover any exploiting of the pre-existing condition removal.

    Take 2 examples.

Example 1. A current situation. My neighbor has a good job, pays for health insurance, and has a 6 year old with bad allergies and needs medication. He loses his job. When he gets a new job and tries to get covered on their insurance, they won't cover his 6 year old because its a pre-existing condition. Or he can pay 5 times as much as he used to and keep his old coverage.

    2. I make good money, and I'm in good health. I dont want to pay insurance, so I don't get any. When I'm 75, I get some bad sickness and have to go to the hospital. I could just get insurance then, and have them pay 80% (lol hopeful) after my deductible. If everyone does this, insurance will go bankrupt and system will collapse.

The mandate was put into place to fix #2.

What he said VVV. But the your insurance should actually get cheaper. The only people who have an added expense now are those who didn't have insurance.....and never...ever...ever...had to go to the hospital or a slew of doctor visits. (As that would have cost many times the insurance premiums that would have been paid.)

In your case you can pay for tricare for far cheaper than normal insurance anyway. So your good. No extra "tax" for you.

By the way it isn't a "tax" folks. It is a fine for not having insurance because if no one has it it ruins the whole idea of making it cheaper to cover everyone. So you have to pay the fine to help keep the total cost down. (yes I understand why as of yet healthy uninsured people don't like this, like said above it will help you in the end) Having the IRS collect the fine is actually a good idea as it saves the cost of another whole poorly functioning bureaucratic government agency.
Never thought I would see the day...

So I have health insurance and can definitely afford it. So the best thing I can do is drop it and pay the fee right? The way I see it, it's still cheaper.

And this is the problem. The Federal govt now has the authority to force citizens to buy something by imposing a fine for not doing so. People that support this law, including the President, say "most states require you to have auto insurance so people should be comfortable with this." Except people can opt out of the auto insurance mandate by not owning a car. The only way to opt out of this healthcare scheme is to be poor or dead, both of which put you in the prime voter demographic in Obama's Chicago home.

because when you have a society that is given what it needs to survive, and generations on welfare, that says genereations of people that couldnt have survived otherwise. stop feeding the animals. stop providing for them what they cant do own their own and they will die. Those that can susatin life and florish live. so yes, survival of the fittest.
tell me, how does it not equate to our society? because we are "civilized" ?
