Congrats on the new car! I am up in Lake Forest, IL. Despite the distance, hopefully we cross paths one day.

If you're looking for a CF manufacturer, you may want to inquire with Challenge USA or IND Distribution. They have some good connections with a CF manufacturer in Wisconsin that does amazing work. I also found out where Fall Line got some of their E36 and E46 CF parts done as well. I'm not sure if they still use them or not, but despite how old school their website is, they look like they do good work.

    http://www.prototypecomposites.com/default.asp

VS Motorsports will be installing my CF roof on my E46 M3. They also build a lot of roll cages and roll bars for NASA, SCCA, and street cars. They can do bolt-in or full weld in! Top notch welding and fabrication with true racing background.

I can't wait to see what FMU does with your exhaust. They are the exhaust masters!

Thanks guys, this is small time changes, those ambers were killing me. The big changes are coming. Been in talks with FMU and putting together a gameplan. I will be releasing details shortly and I'm sure build wil be able to be followed in great detail on FMU's site once we begin.

Definitely looking forward to what you guys put together.

You should get the Evolve Automotive C63 Headers that they're developing...although I'm not sure if fitment would be the same with yours or not. That paired with an FMU exhaust would sound so sick.....

Not sure who I am going to trust with the CF roof conversion since it is going to be a little more tricky than the CLK since this one has the Pano and will need some structural cross mebers added for support. There is a local shop here in chicago that does a lot of Porsche work and I have seen a few of their CF roofs and they look OEM so I might give them a shot. To be honest I am going to drive it stock for a little while and just enjoy it, I don't want to deal with any downtime mid-summer which is prime driving season for us midwesterners.
You should give Renntech a ring for a set of their headers, and order an Akraprovic exhaust, sounds awesome.

By dealing with a shop here in Chicago I can drop in unannounced to check on progress. After the whole evosport thing I have been cautious and even this last round of mods at Weistec took much longer than anticipated. Don't get me wrong, Ihave no issues with Weistec if I lived in Cali this car would be going to them but since the work I am getting done is basically bolt-on stuff there is no reason to ship it 2000 miles away. If I decide to do anything else or put a blower on it I might send it back to Weistec. Even the guys I shipped my Ford Raptor to out in Santa Ana for some MAJOR mods can't seem to get $#@! done on time...everyone in cali is too laid back to meet deadlines I'm affraid.
Sadly, have to agree. I like your style Jim.

I trust the guys at FMU, seen them and their work mature over the past several years and the simple fact that they are 2 miles from my house makes it a no brainer, them knowing I can show up at any time and see the progress being made would keep any tuner on their toes. Furthermore the build on this car is not even all that extreme, FMU has tackled biger jobs than this and met deadlines so I am not worried. I have been traveling and need to get back over to FMU so they can get started on the first round of mods.

First round of mods is going to be wheels, springs, roll bar, LT's, mid pipe, tune, intake and the thing that will be making the biggest headlines around here will be the conversion of the pano roof to a carbon fiber roof. As you may or may not know all C coupes including Black Series shipped to North America come standard with the lame ass pano roof, no hard top option is avialble. This is going to be a pretty major task since the entire roof will have to have structual cross members added back in. Due to R & D and down time I will not be starting the roof conversion until this fall, I want to enjoy the car for the rest of the summer.

Have you decided who will be doing the roof for you?
