True, I'm not saying they're untouchable. It's just literally half the price to mod that car as fast as a blown m3.

Absolutely, this is one of the reasons I choose to modify an M3 because it isn't the easy way out or just doing what everyone does.

Its all a matter of taste... I think with the M's, AMG's and S models of the euro brands you get more style interior wise and good performance out the box. But the cost of mods gets silly and the amount of power for those mods don't work out in more than a few cases. I would love to see a blown M3 vs a Blown Boss 302 or GT in a roll run. Very curious to see who is faster, where & when they are faster etc.... Thats a vid I wanna see LOL

A blown M3 with DCT is usually going to be faster in a roll on race.

What are the new 5.0's putting down on stock internals?

The M3 is at the 600 mark so it really doesn't have too much to worry about.

Its going to depend on the blower setup but within say 15psi and a Kenne Bell 2.8 blower on an otherwise stock Boss. Roughly 710/550 on pump

Prochargers F1-C (which is a massive blower) was around 731/550 on on an otherwise stock car at the wheels on pump gas.

Vortech JT trim (again massive) was around 840/640 with no cats I should add on a mix of race/pump gas

Now in fairness to smaller kits with smaller psi's a Boss with a V3-Si and only 9psi on pump and fully stock makes roughly 605 to the wheels.

The question is not how much it will make but how much you want... I would rock a Boss 302 on pump with 12psi and a full exhaust and that should be 660ish to the wheel on pump.

They hit 840 on stock internals?

Well, on pump with low boost it is definitely close. M3 on 7.5 psi with DCT on pump would be a nice race to see with the your 12 psi 660 example.

Surpas block is iron, no sleeves as I recall. The Z06 is thin walled aluminum with pressed in cylinder liners.

Take a look at the article... I can't say how long it would survive but Lethal has been doing sick Stang work for a while and their combo's are well regarded for being very reliable.

I would say that since 96 when the Cobra came with the 4V 4.6 V8 Ford has been progressing steadily with serious performance. The 03/04 Cobra took things to the next level and now the Coyote 5.0 setups are really the hot ticket. Keep in mind thats a roots blower setup, the Vortech and Procharger setups are far more friendly at high rpms on this motor.

It's hard to deny the auto's in the S197's they seem to be pretty damn stout. The 6spd's have had issues in stock form with engagement and such. I'd still opt for a manual though, I love rowing through the gears. Also it depends on which blower you go, going centrifugal will be easier on the both trans due to not making as much tq.
