Looks great. Really like the lines of the E-coupe.

The new V8 twin turbo does have some nice power. I test drove the new CLS550, is was chirping the tires on 1-2 and 2-3 gear changes.

    That is a beautiful color.

Is it AWD or RWD? I keep forgetting which M278's have it standard now.

Rear wheel drive...; and no limited slip available (at this time).
We tried to install a Quaife, but their unit for the '11 and older E coupes won't fit because MBZ changed the differential for the '12.
    Increasing rear tire width to 275 x 30 x 19 (from 255 x 35 x18) will help.

Are they going to come out with a new unit for '12 and up?

    I don't know.
Quaife has a current solution, which proposes using a c63 "pumpkin" unit which will physically fit. The problem is the differential ratio (2.84?) for the C63 has 16% more reduction than the '12 E Coupe's (2.45?). I believe the M278 has more low end torque;thus, can handle the taller ratio plus the 6.3 engine is designed to turn higher revs thus benefits from the lower ratio.
A Mercedes tech said the change in ratios might cause to transmission to go into "limp" mode: something to do with the trans computer comparing output shaft rpm to the axle rpm. If this is an issue (Quaife said it might not be a problem: they've never had an issue), the trans computer module would require reprograming to accept the changes. The MBZ tech said the dealership doesn't have ability to reprogram and he suggested "maybe" RENNtech.

Losing the differential warranty via the Quaife install is one thing, but to modify the transmission computer and also cause the engine to turn more rpm at all speeds is a lot of warrany risk: don't know if that's a smart move.

Regardless, to give the '12 E an additional 16% of reduction along with the LSD could make acceleration interesting.Click here to enlarge

Yep, that ratio would be a problem, too short for all that torque.

Have you tried contacting Dan@diffsonline? He may have something Quaife does not.

Cool, was worth a shot. Guess there isn't too much available for this platform yet.

I don't give up easily and will post if there are any changes.
Also anxiously waiting for RENNtech to post their times with their ECU tune in this vehicle.
