Weistec custom M156 build power figures, what will they be?

I'm sure everyone has seen posts by JRCART stating an increase in power of up to 30% from where the car previously was. I'm not making this post to question it but just explore the topic as there is very little Stage III info out there so I thought we might start discussing it.

Obviously he is having his motor built with the compression lowered which will be necessary for higher boost applications. The motors will be able to handle whatever they throw at them.

If we assume a 30% increase that works out to 943 wheel horsepower. Yes, a ton of power.

20% was mentioned as well so let's look at that. The math works out to 825 wheel horsepower.

Either way, we are looking at power figures somewhere in the 8XX-9XX range at least on paper. If so, the M156 is going to become one of if not the strongest Mercedes performance platform out there.

Nice, i didn't know they were building their engines!!
They better get them ready and get some numbers.
Because with tuners like AMS PERFORMANCE getting in the M157 GAME,they will raise the bar so high.
Like what they did with the alpha GTR and evo's

    I wouldn't really call it a 156.

    wait a minute...

how are they lowering compression and changing pistons? can they tune for this??

835-900 WHP would be amazing. Can this be done for the SLS as well?

    Thats the thing...

Not everybody can tune for this...

I think it is for this reason no one built a turbo for the M156/M159 besides Brabus. I think they are the only ones that have access to those files, am I right?

Well, Brabus has access to things nobody else does. Combine that with deep pockets and they can do pretty much anything.

Well, one step at a time. Let's see what happens and I have faith it will be just as impressive as everything else they have done.

It's taking place, we know that.

Ahhh, nevermind, Ive seen that username at mbworld before "JRcart". I knew that his car was supercharged, but I didnt know it was being developed.

Its good to be here. at Mbworld I only post on the SLS forum, which is really a dead forum. I Like how this website puts all the M156 platforms and M159 in a single forum.

I started coming here more Click here to enlarge

The layout is more conducive to the educated enthusiast. MBworld's is horrible and redundant.

Looking forward to information on these Stage III builds!

Regardless of power increases from baseline (Stage II: i.e. mid-600 wheel horsepower), I hope we will be reading about appropriate modifications to the entire powertrain (and not just the motor).

I support of the above contention, the recent 1/4 mile record (9.765 s @ 140.87 mph) is held by a car (RENNtech SLR) with ~680 rwhp. Until somewhat recently, blackbenz's supercharged W208 CLK55 was one of the fastest at 10.6X with only high 400's rwhp.
If one looks at their builds / modifications, it is clear that adequate emphasis is placed on the suspension and transmission.

So many big-power Benz builds over the years have failed or been very disappointing in terms of real performance because modifications distal to the motor haven't been addressed.

All that said, I hope to read about a Weistec Stage III build that describes ample but usable horsepower. Judging by the quality of Weistec's previous offerings, I'm confident that all facets of the powertrain are addressed.

It sort of "slipped" out that this area was being addressed as well.

All due to the 60 foot but the reality is a lot of cars would take him from a roll on. Not trying to take anything away from the very solid setup. There is a big difference between ET and trap.

Started out as a 156, but now it's blown with apparently different internals, and whatever else they're doing to handle that level of hp. Is this going to be a complete pkg available to buy or they just building 2?

It's still an M156, modifying the internals doesn't change that or a P31 wouldn't really be an M156 by that definition.

If it can be done twice it can be done thrice.

I do not know if this will be an "official" package or not. This is still early on and just a thread to discuss it. Kind of crazy how many people are viewing this already considering the late hour at which it was posted. Seems there is a lot of anticipation!

Yes - I'm aware that ecampbell alluded to this earlier. To what degree though? Regardless, we'll find out soon!

Well, blackbenz has fantastic 60's - no doubt about that. However, performance is sustained throughout the 1/4 and on only 4XX rwhp. As you said though - a 'very solid setup'.
Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll agree - the 60 foot is an integral part of the 1/4 and racing in general and it demands attention in any build striving to be the best.

Absolutely. I'm sure those getting the Weistec Stage III build would like a setup where both are optimal. (At least the build concentrating on the 1/4).
