No love for the predecessor of the C-class? The W201 190 series?

I didn't really expect it on a new forum, but was still kinda sad to see the W202, W203, and W204 and but no W201.

I guess as pedo-bear would say...

    TOO OLD.

Not that it is too old, we can accommodate it.

Isn't that the model that has the 190E? The problem is it isn't referred to as a C it seems unless I misunderstand.

Correct, the W201 chassis was back before Mercedes-Benz changed to their current letter naming system. The W201 had the carbureted 190, injected 190E, and diesel 190D, with the 190E and 190D both having a variety of engine and bodykit options.

The flagship models being the 16-valve models, that competed against the E30 M3 in the German DTM series in the late 80's and early 90's.

I think this video is a good explanation for why GermanBoost needs the W201:

I have no problem catering to older models. As long as you feel the W201 makes sense in the C-class section.

I think rest of the forum should be final judge of that, but I personally think the C-class section is where the W201 belongs. Same parts, same market segment, same drivetrain layout, same section of the chassis codes numbers, and same long time competitor to the BMW 3 series.

I think I agree with you as the 190E was the E30 competitor and 3 and C still square off to this day.

I will add the W201 to the C-Class section and I hope to acquire a 190E to make into an EVO II clone at some point.

Thank you for helping me streamline the Mercedes section and take older models into account. If you wish to take a look at the engine forum layout and have any suggestions on what should be added or changed I would like to hear it.

Not sure what you are talking about, you should have 4.3 as you got 2 positive reps and have 3 posts....

Here, I'll give you a positive. Nobody negged you or took any away so you are mistaken.

What error were you getting? Just not enough rep for links?
