M159 parts required, who can help?

I need to buy SLS M159 engine parts (valves etc). Unfortunately I can not purchase these parts locally, can these be bought in the USA?

    Thanks

You cannot buy them online. You have to do it through your nearest local dealer. If you want some brake pads and rotors, contact parts.com and they can hook you up with some

I thought someone was saying Mercedes is not willing to just sell M159 parts to anyone?

If you know the right people you can buy them. I have some M159 parts, what parts are you specifically looking for? Feel free to PM me if you prefer to keep things private.

FYI, you will need the heads and cams if you want to run the valves and lifters. If you want to run the entire package I hope you know a good tuner.

So if people want to source them they should contact you and you can put them in contact with the right people?

    Why the secrecy though?

Has anyone successfully retrofitted M159 components onto the M156 yet?

No secrecy, but take some pulling of strings...and no I am not gooing to be a broker for M159 parts, I have some that were in my car that are no longer in my car that I would be willing to sell. The Weistec heads, valves and fuel management will net you bigger gains for less money.

True, the SC makes more sense financially and with the power gains.

However, maybe someone out there wants to build the ultimate naturally aspirated M156 and that would likely require some M159 parts unless maybe someone can get a better aftermarket set of cams.

I'm not even talking about the SC, I'm talking about someone just bolting up their race ported heads, valves, lifters and a Weistec tune and some LTs. That will net you what the M159 heads and cams will for a fraction of the price, the blower takes it to an entirely different level.

Ah, I see and a good point.

What about cams though? Does anyone have a cam solution or has anyone managed to get M159 cams working in the M156?

    Working on that!!

I will be porting my heads so the weistec heads will not be needed.

JR, are you saying the 159 valves and assembly can not be retrofitted to the 156 heads even with porting? Would it better to just go aftermarket bigger valves then try make custom cams to work?

A friend of mine, how ever i would like to keep that information to myself for now. As this could not go ahead at all. Just doing some RnD at the moment, but if we get the parts required then work will begin. At the moment it is trying to source parts and as much info as possible. My friend believes the SLS cams can work with our motors, though certain parts will need changing and modified.

How is your friend going to tune it? The hardware will likely work but I think it has been a software holdup for everyone else.

That's exactly what I am saying, go with the Weistec race port heads and their valve/lifter assembly and you will gain more hp than putting stock M159 SLS heads and cams on your car at a fraction of the price. Now if you were planning on porting or otherwise improving on the stock M159 heads thats another story, I'm not sure what kind of gains can be realized with porting the stock M159 heads.

...There is a reason I am running that set-up on my car, it makes power.

That is what I tried explaining to him in a PM but I don't think he likes that answer. I'm just trying to save the guy alot of time and money from trying to do something that I already tried over a year ago. As I also told him in a PM I would be happy selling him whatever M159 parts I have very cheap but I would still feel almost guilty becuase he will not be happy with the outcome, but hey, if he wants to have a another go at it on his dime be my guest. I guess it can only benefit the rest of us if his tuner somehow figures it out.

I can call Steve or Mike @Weistec to ask them if they have installed their heads without an SC to see what kind of gains they saw but if I was bulding a NA 63 that's the route I would go.

...one more thing, you are absolutely correct, the hardware works, I ran my car at Fontana last April with the M159 SLS cams in my car, it ran fine, just not at it's optimum potential.

Contact RENNtech.... they can get any Mercedes part fairly quickly. Heck they had 3 different prototype SLS intake manifolds before development on the SLS even ended (1.5 years before the SLS was released) Click here to enlarge. Also, they had access to some very rare SLR parts back in the day when it was extremely difficult to get. They have great relationship with AMG and parts are usually not a problem for them.

Why is nobody able to solve the software aspect of it?
