You're leaving the MHP stuff alone, and replacing the stock MB/AMG resonator, mufflers, and tips with a larger diameter aftermarket x-pipe, aftermarket mufflers with electronic cutouts, and tips. Why do you anticipate a "more civil" exhaust tone in any circumstances with the new configuration?

I'd guess it'll be more like this:

Loud --------------- Louder --------------------- Stupid Loud
Current -------- AP system closed ------------ AP system open
You may be right. The stock resonator does help mitigate the sound and removing/replacing it may make it louder.

AP/Vivid Racing claims this system was made especially for those who have headers installed to help quiet it down a bit.

Headers as most know are a big hp gain on the 63 motors and we wanted something to be able to have the car sound beastly but at the same time press a button and drop the car 20 decibels.
I'll find out soon enough I guess.Click here to enlarge

Cool - look forward to some sound clips/vids! Wasn't aware that they tried to make it quieter than the stock system... I guess it'd mean the mufflers are quieter than the AMG ones? Hope you like 'em... and the cutouts are a nice touch. Click here to enlarge

This is the main reason I bought the system too. Innotech and the rest of the Valvetronic guys all claim the same. I think they just got lucky and the muffler design managed to capture the resonance and noise. Did you get your tracking number yet?

Once I get the mufflers on, I'll see how much quieter they are(if at all).

The mufflers are interesting, the race side looks as if it's a straight thru design. Once the valve is in the closed position the exhaust is routed to the offset pipe and works similar to a regular muffler. Also, the offset pipe looks like it's much smaller than the rest of the system, 2" vs. 2-3/4".

I'll post before and after videos once it's all complete.

A company local to me in South Africa. Going to do the first set in mild steel for cheap cheap and if I am happy with the outcome will make a set in stainless.
