    C16 race gas

I have a tuned C63 on 93 octane (98 Ron). Is it safe to add race gas without the tune for it? will I be getting power? and how much?

    anybody tried it?

Why are you adding leaded fuel?

Unleaded race gas should advance the timing a bit but not as much as a dedicated race tune would with that same race gas.

If you have cats don't run leaded, no reason to. No reason to period for your naturally aspirated car as it does not need it. C16 is usually for super high boost applications or super high compression.

116 octane is a lot to ask for a pump gas tune. I mean even running strait 109 in a pump gas tuned car is a lot to ask. The ECU will learn up to a point and advance the timing only so far. What the percentage is I'm not sure. For one, stay far away from leaded fuels. Even if it was available in unleaded, you would never burn it all. All that un burned fuel would just be passed out your tail pipes. There is such a think as over octaning the motor. You best bet is to run good old 100 octane. on your pump gas tune, or a mix of 93 & 100. Another option is to tune for it. Custom tune for 100 octane or 109 octane. I don't see a need to go over 109 octane. Unless you have a mega C/R or huge turbos.

It won't ruin your cats since they are gone but you will eventually have to replace your 02 sensors if you run enough.

Just isn't even worth it for you, there is nothing to be gained. MS109 is what you want.

You could eventually clog the injectors.

Why are you so intent on running C16?

Then do it with a race tune on MS109. Or how about screw playing with the basic stuff and get a blower?

The question was what happens if I keep the same tune and add race gas, Like MS109, will I be making slightly more power?

I dont intend to install a blower. I dont think its safe for a high compression engine. I believe its a matter of time until we see an engine runing on this blower from a known car to blow up

Slightly more, yes. Not as much as a dedicated race tune though.

That's fine, it's up to you obviously. Just a suggestion since you want more power.

Outdated thinking though, BMW guys have been running forced induction for decades now on cars with higher compression than the M156. It isn't the compression that kills you, it's detonation from the fuel quality with boost. If you don't go overboard pushing the limits you are fine.

A lot of guys say these ECU's tend to be temperamental with adaptability so make sure you get a decent amount of race gas and you are close to empty!

I was hoping someone would chime in on this. Higher octane fuel burns SLOWER than lower octane. If you run too much for what your engine requires, you WILL LOOSE HP. This is do to having incomplete combustion in the chamber do to the slower burning fuel. Simple physics here guys.

And as the obvious which was stated MANY times above. GET a High octane tune, and then you WILL see some improvements, as it will advance the tinning enough to make the burn process more complete. SAFELY I might add as to avoid any detonation.

And YES leaded fuel will destroy 02 sensors VERY quickly. The GN crew would replace theirs after about two nights of draggin. Those GN's REALLY loved the high octane stuff, of course with about 20+ pounds of boostClick here to enlarge

Thanks for the info guys. The good thing is that I know how my car preforms. I will take sticky's advice and run 105 octane and see how that turns out.
