What did you go to school for?

Wondering what everyone went to school for, or what they are currently going for. If you didn't go to school, what are you up to now?

Were you able to find a job in the career field you went for or are you doing something completely different?

If I could go back in time I would just tell me parents to give me the money instead. They would likely say no though so I would be in school anyway.

I didnt go to college, instead I learned a trade. I served a 5yr apprenticeship in Plumbers Local 14 in Jersey City back in '92 and also certified in pipe welding.Im currently working on certifying for TIG as that cert is extremely difficult to attain.. Its been a bit rough since the economy took a $#@!&all the construction trades in NYC&NJ slowed down however.

Same, pretty much why I made the thread. I'm planning on going for biological sciences, it's a broad field which in a sense is good but also bad since it doesn't specify in a single area. It's mostly a gateway for going into Medical, Dental, etc. I want to become a dentist, but if for someone something happens and I only have the bachelors to lean back on what would be my best opportunities. I don't want to end up shaving animals in a lab or anything which is what I'm worried about.

Hopefully it ends like that for me as well.

Went to school for 1.5 years to get a Mircosoft systems engineer certification. Took me too long to figure out that it's not what I wanted to do. Dropped out put my welding skills to use(learned at a very young age from pops) and decided to try my luck as an Ironworker. Been doing it for 11 years, and now I manage field projects for one of the largest Steel Fabrication and Erection companies in So.Cal.

Really? That's what I plan on going for, what's your plans after getting the degree? Further your education or go straight for looking for a job?

Is it bad if I say I would just like to run websites for a living? I like the way that fits.

There isn't any class or degree that can teach you to do this.

not sure at the moment still trying to figure what exactly i want. I've been entertaining the idea of going to medical school to be a specialist in idk what field lol, perhaps oncology. Med school is becoming a living hell to apply for though Click here to enlarge

Left school at 17 .. straight into IT department at a local hospital.

Been working with computers commercially in one shape or form for over 16 years now. Wrote my first computer program almost 24 years ago at the age of 10!

Burned out about 5 years ago, so took a year out and tinted car windows & installed 3m film. Didn't take long to find myself back in front of the computer though!
