Kind of goes against the spirit of protesting.

"Please protest but only if you filled out the proper forms, have expressed written consent from the NFL, and all your fellow protesters have been vaccinated."

So it's ok to protest with Molotov Cocktails, rocks and knives right?

Where do you draw the line?

I would draw the line at violence and weapons intended to harm others, not complicated.

These people did not have a permit filed, were all.over the place, and filling up in the streets and obstructing traffic. Police had the right to use force to corral them and keep them under control. Even if someone is in a cage they can still scream and be heard which can incite the rest of the crowd.

Im still siding with ecampbell. Even on occupy wall streets website, they only say the corporate system benefits the rich and harms the poor. So? Dont be $#@!in poor then. Work your ass off, make a name for yourself and be rich! I dont think a liberal arts degree will get you anywhere.

Bringing this thread back, to me it looked like the cop watched what was happening and said I have had enough! Then he did something about it.. what he did was make it worse. Went over and tried to shut some $#@!es up, instead got them to cry/fuss some more and make "The people" more upset. Wrong move in my eyes.

You say it's not complicated, but it is.

So molotov cocktails are not allowed.

    Is pushing barracades over allowed?

Wonder if any barricades were ever pushed over during the civil rights movement? What about during the women's rights movement? What about during Vietnam protests? What about in the 1700's? Pushing a barricade is not a reason to respond the way he did IMO but I also do see your point. I just don't entirely agree with it as the right to protest is one guaranteed under the Bill of Rights. What good is it if the Police can undermine it with pepper spray at will? The Communists used similar tactics to respond to groups of people forming in the city, how sad is that?

Then at what point should the police intervene? You see this is a very gray area, it's impossible to 'let people protest' however they want. Because if you dont have some form of control you will end up where london was.

Too much control is bad, of course but too little; well then you have london riots. I think America is somewhere in between and thats a good thing.

I dont agree with overwhelming police response, but in the past few videos all I saw was a dumb chick get pepper sprayed and some cop beat one kids ass and ALL with good reason. Cops outnumbered, cornered and have no way to control the situation. They must show force or the crowd will only escalate further (see london). No one got shot, no one died, I'm sure the hippie chick that got sprayed is OK and the dude that got his ass beat, well his bruises healed.

    I think we're doing ok.

Just wait till they call on the National Guard, then all hell will break loose... (Not sure If I'm serious or not!?!)

We can all sit here and judge on the net whether the cop was right or wrong.

But what would you do if you were in that situation? DO you feel threatened by the crazies? Or do you turn your back and ignore them, hope they don't pull and weapon or other dangerous object, because you decided not to defuse the situation (whether it was dangerous or not). There are lots of 'What-if's that could be asked in this situation. If the cop did nothing he would have been wrong, just like we (some of us) are judging him for being wrong for doing something.

Do I think this protest is worth while, yes and no. Yes because it brings national attention to an issue that needs attention. No because although it is brining attention, it is also disrupting work and businesses who have nothing to do with what is being protested? A cop does a job to earn a living, the day trader on the floors of the stock market makes trades based off what his company wants done. He is making bare minimum, 50-75k a year, why are you protesting him, causing him or her to be late to work, causing disruptions for everyone... YOu want to protest the banks, Protest in front of a Bank... Not against the ones who are hard workers...

"Throw me a bone, pay my tuition" GTFOH... Why should they, whoever they are pay for your tuition... I pay for my tuition out of my own damn pocket, because I want to better myself, why should a rich person or a corporation pay for it, because they can afford to, because they are greedy? $#@! you.

That right there is the problem... We got groups of people protesting an actual legitimate thing, and then you got the parasites that come to feed off this protest, because the teachers union wants more money or this union wants that, or that $#@!ing idiot that wants someone else to pay for his 40k a year college tuition... If it's so god damn expensive for you, go to a community college for 2k a semester and stop trying to get someone else to pay for your 40k a semester tuition...

$#@!ing stupid kid... Parasitic... Get a $#@!ing job so you can pay for your 40k a semester school costs... Sorry, that just pisses me off for some reason...
