Mercedes to send off the G-Class (G Wagon) with a special edition G63 AMG using the M156 V8?

This story is kind of odd for a couple reasons. First of all, the idea of a high performance G-Wagon designed for paved roads goes against the intended purpose of the vehicle. Secondly, why is the M156 the motor that will be chosen when Mercedes is phasing it out on their own replacing it with the twin turbo M157 5.5 liter V8? Beats us, but Mercedes may be planning to send both the motor and the G-Wagon off in style. The vehicle pictured below may also be a G65 AMG with a V12 twin turbo. We will all just have to sit and wait to find out what Mercedes has up their sleeve at Frankfurt.

Shame, G isn't for drag racing or highway rolls. They will ruin it with V12.

Well, if you want one for off-roading that option is available as well. Guess Mercedes just wants to build one last super strong G.

Maybe the 63 motor will fix the throttle response. That car feels like it's got a laggy turbo and not a supercharger. Nothing will fix the steering though...just horribleSure sounds sweet though Click here to enlarge

The twin turbo V8 makes more sense for that big heavy thing.
